OT: Darko Headed To Orlando
Figures that Orlando would rather keep their 2006 pick and give up their 2007 pick, and the 2007 draft is going to be an amazing draft...that will be a lotto pick for Detroit, this is the Otis Thorpe deal all over again, no wonder they're going to do it...

No kidding.
Man, combined with the Fran Vasquez fiasco, watching the Magic do anything involving the draft has descended into morbid comedy.

Re: OT: Darko Headed To Orlando
well clippers have no shot at him since they traded wilcox but i did think it would be intriguing to bring him here. Radman will help the clippers 10X as much as darko this year though.

Darko needs to go to a team that sucks and can afford to let him play through his mistakes.

Re: OT: Darko Headed To Orlando
which is why radman will do a lot better than he would have done. But like i had said in an earlier thread, the appeal of possibly being "the team" to tap into darko's potential would have been a temptation for me. As with boris diaw, and players like that, sometimes its just a change of scenery that can mean the world. Not sure if playing in orlando will do it for him, but who knows.
Whats this too about orlando trading francis for penny hardaway? Wonder if that will go through, and who else is involved in that deal. Some teams are just really doing some strange things.

But playing 6 mpg on one great team and playing 10 mpg on a good team isn't really a change of scenery.
Anything the Clippers would have realistically traded for Darko would have just been a waste of time. He needs somewhere where he can get extensive time out on the court to grow. Being a practice player in a different jersey isn't going to help either him or the franchise that has him.

I read that the Darko deal was contingent on a 3 player deal involving, Denver, New York, and Orlando.
Denver would get Francis
Orlando get Crawford, Ariza, Nene
New York get K-Mart
I think this is a pretty decent deal for eveyone except the Knicks. They have all these expiring contracts about to come up in the next to years and Isiah is going to offset them with K-Mart's assload of a contract. I don't think Larry Brown will be too happy about that, so I don't know if it will happen.

Re: OT: Darko Headed To Orlando
Darko, Vasquez, Kasun, Howard. Magic have a nice young front line which can potentially become a great one. Kasun is the oldest of the bunch at only 25 years of age. Now, for the Magics sake, they need Darko to reach his "potential", Vasquez to come over and they'll have all 4 of them together

Re: OT: Darko Headed To Orlando
ESPN is reporting it is a done deal:
The Detroit Pistons traded forward Darko Milicic and point guard Carlos Arroyo to the Orlando Magic for Kelvin Cato and a 2007 first round pick, ESPN.com has learned Wednesday.

Re: OT: Darko Headed To Orlando
As a Magic fan, I don't see any immediate flaws in the trade. Just got to hope the Darko-Dwight combo will grow into something special.
