What superstar would fit best on this team?

Sterling and dunleavvy the last few years have not made it secret that they want a superstar player here. Even recently i believe it was sterling who was quoted as saying that were a superstar away from the finals. So youve got to think if the right deal came along that didnt include brand, the clippers would make the move.

Which superstar or all star player who is tradeable do you think would work best on the team?

I say tradeable, in that its FEESIBLE they could be traded. Obviously kobe, dwade, lebron, duncan, etc. would not be part of this list.

My list would be:

Iverson. It would probably take another team involved, and if philly/other team was desperate enough, would only cost us mobley and maggette (salary wise). I think iverson more than anyone else would be the perfect fit here, because it would allow livingston to start at the same time as A.I. and neither would technically be out of position. A Kaman/Brand/Radman/AI/Livvy starting lineup would be ridiculous.

Garnett. I only include him here since hes one of the most talked about as far as trades go. salary wise, he would cost us probably kaman, mobley, and maggette and rebraca leaving us with a starting lineup of Brand, Garnett, Radman, QRoss, and Livingston.

Pierce. The problem with him obviously is that boston has made it clear they want livvy as part of any deal. it seems like the clippers will not do that, but lets just play devils advocate, and say that if they did, wed probalby end up having to ship maggs, livvy, and rebraca for say pierce and west, and we would have a starting lineup of Kaman/Brand/Mobley/Pierce/Cassell (or west)

Allen. Not really mentioned much in trades but who knows with the disaster year seattle had. Theres not much salary wise thats reasonable that would work out here.

Other than that, i really dont see any possiblity of the clippers EVER getting a supststar, outside of lucking out in the draft, or one of their other current players becomes a superstar.

One thing ive always wanted (and i am the only clipper fan to feel this way) is somehow get steve francis here. I think he would EXPLODE in a setting like the clippers. No pressure, back with his best brokeback friend (refernece to other clipper board), mobley, wouldnt have to play point, etc. etc....a lot of people forget that for years, this guy was putting up numbers that less than 5 people in the history of the nba have been able to do.

Anyway, im curious as to if any of you think that we will ever see another superstar in a clipper uniform, and if so, who, and how do we get them?

I dont think we will do any big trades this offseason to be honest. I think maggette will be kept, cassell resigned, radman let go, and then just a bunch of other minor signings, etc. a la mccarty.

Re: What superstar would fit best on this team?

Gilbert Arenas, it kills me everytime i see this guy play, knowing that he could've been a Clipper. I'd give up Livingston, Kaman, Mobley & a few picks. We'd be a little weak at center, but that's about as close to a championship team as i can think of. We could play some small ball or pick up a decent free agent, either way practically everyone on the team is versitile enough to play two positions.

Arenas/Cassell
Ross/Ewing
Maggette/Radmanovich/Korolev
Brand/Singleton/Sofo
???/Rebraca

A dream scenario would also include picking up Ben Wallace in free agency... if that happens, just pencil us in for the next 2 or 3 championships.

Re: What superstar would fit best on this team?

I want Pierce on the team more than anyone else but thats probably wont happen.

How much longer can Iverson be effective? He is getting old and being only 6 feet tall. But I dont mind seeing him playing for us for a couple years. Is he willing to become a 2nd option after Brand?

Steve Francis.....dont think so man. Brand will never see the ball.

Re: What superstar would fit best on this team?

I think Pierce will fit perfectly on this team. It would be tough to get him though. Iverson and Allen might fit well but their age's concern me. KG would be great but with Brand it might not make much sense, but it would be interesting to see a lineup with both Brand and KG on it,

Re: What superstar would fit best on this team?

look at steve nash, hes actually improved his game with age. Even if AI goes down, how much is he going to go down? he looses 5 points a game on his average and hes still scoring like 28 a game.

The thing that I like about AI is that he is a warrior. He is a classic example of a person who gives 110%, he never quits.

If Pierce makes it public that he wants out of Boston and stops showing up. Ainge might trade him for less. I hope it happens.....
