Final Roster?
Any thoughts on the final roster? I wonder what is going on with Williams. 3 out of 4 DNP - coaches decision. But honestly I cant see how they can just drop him, as Davis so far has been super inconsistent, and powell so far is doing a terrible job, and isnt a center anyway (I still have no reason why we got him when we needed a big body). But i wonder if they would be willing to eat williams salary?
Personally i think they should keep korolev. They can use an injury waiver to keep him as the 16th on the roster. At least for perhaps a month or two, when the contracts go guaranteed. We dont need another SF/SG, but hey, hes having a decent preseason. Averaging almost 2 steals a game in less than 15 minutes of action.
Patterson doesnt have a guaranteed deal, but its almost a lock that he will be on the team.
We stand at 15 now, if wiilliams is not cut, and korolev is. I say lets go 16.

Re: Final Roster?
My guess is the Clippers will cut Diaz, Korolev, and Ffriend. Though Williams hasn't shown much I don't see how the Clipper can cut him with such lack at depth in the center position. The only way I can see Williams being cut is if another big suddenly became available in the market.

Re: Final Roster?
Ffriend is obviously gone, along with Diaz and I hope Powell. I would much rather have Korolev on the roster.

Re: Final Roster?
Korolev absolutely should make this roster. He's played well everytime he's got an opportunity in this preseason. I wish this team wouldn't fool itself into thinking it's a competitor and just go into rebuilding mode.

You'd rather have Powell gone?!! Iz U 4 real?!
BTW, veteran center Kimani Ffriend's played all over the globe, most recently in Korea’s top league.
The 30-yr-old Jamaican had 4 pts and 4 rebs (11 mins) in the preseason loss @ Portland (Oct. 10th), his only Clippers game so far.
L to R: Josh POWELL, Ruben PATTERSON, Guillermo DIAZ, Kimani Ffriend, Paul DAVIS.
How long do you think will Kimani stay around? And just' for the record, our roster currently stands at 18 players.

I dont know about that one. If we do keep him we better give him some minutes or it will be a waste. I'd rather keep Diaz and let him progress.

Honestly, Powell has not done anything to impress so far in his NBA career. There have been a ton of talented, athletically gifted players like Powell who just never make it in the league. I'm beginning to get the feeling that he's going to be one of them. Korolev was a #8 overall pick who has at least shown signs of improvement and has always been thought of very highly by this organization (until now I couldn't really see why). JP is going to be a garbage time player at best and I just don't see any reason to keep him around at the expense of a player like Korolev or even Diaz.

Re: Final Roster?
When you consider age, Baylor would be crazy not to let both Korolev and Diaz in this year. They've both played well and have been much more impressive than anyone expected (especially Diaz). Aaron Williams should be cut. I understand people are skeptical about the lack of centers and size on the roster, but if we're playing small ball anyway it's a non-issue so long as we have Kaman and Davis. With Williams cut, obviously Ffriend will go too, but only because he's been off the roster since the beginning. He's been solid, and hasn't given us anything to complain about, but he'll always lose when we consider age and potential. I think that meas we need to lose one more player, unless we petition for a 16th roster spot (which I think we could win). If we don;t get another spot, Dickau vs. Knight should give us our final cut. I'm trusting Baylor on Powell. He hasn't been this high on a player since Quinton Ross, and Quinton's been a major staple of this team. Knight has been unimpressive, but Dickau hasn't been great either, contrary to what most people think. If Knight already has a contract, the we should lose Dickau, and if he doesn't, then we should let competition between the two veteran non-starting PG's determine who gets the last spot. Diaz's 9 pre-season ppg and the simple fact that he's young, potential bloated, and a very hard worker should get him a spot.

well, I could never see why Elgin & Dunleavy like Y2K too? But I think Powell will be more valuable than Korolev. Just my thoughts...
