Jumpin James Set To Return In Late Feb
Quote:
Former Clipper James Singleton was a visitor at Sunday's practice. Singleton, who played for the Clippers the previous two seasons, is recovering from surgery performed Oct. 11, to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Singleton was injured during training camp while playing for the Spanish league team, Tau.
Singleton was declared a free agent after the Clippers declined to exercise the team option on his contract last summer. Singleton said he expects to ready to play by late February.

Might be Semi-Ot, but I know all of ClipperNation has nothing but love for Jumpin James. I'm glad he's recovering after his injury. Don't be surprised if he's on a NBA squad next season.

Re: Jumpin James Set To Return In Late Feb
Good for him. Shame what happened to him, he was chosen to replace the huge whole left by oberto when he went to the spurs. He will be needed even more next year (his contract with tau was extended to next year despite the injury), if splitter goes to the nba.
Sometimes i think and wonder, what if we had picked up our minimum option on james, drafted perhaps williams, young, stuckey, or any of the other many positions we needed instead of thornton.

Then we would have solid depth at SG/SF with Ross, Singleton and our draft pick[Young or Belli is what I wanted as all of you know], along with Thomas playing the wings at times.
Edit: We still would have had just as bad as a record we have right now, Singleton wouldn't get ample playing time even with so many injuries and Dunleavy has a thing against rooks./

Re: Jumpin James Set To Return In Late Feb
well thornton might have a slightly higher ceiling, but i do think singleton would have gotten some time with these injuries, and would have done better than thornton has until now. Not to mention we would have saved a couple million dollars.
But even more than that, it would have been like having an extra player..we still would have had someone with thorntons ability, whether he played or not, but in addition, wed have a lottery pick of another position we needed, that with the injuries would have been very valuable.
So in a sense, im HAPPY we got thornton, for the simple fact that its helping us to suck even more, to give us a shot at a potential superstar in the draft next year.

I have a feeling that Dumbleavy and the Front Office still think we can contend for a spot in the playoffs when EB comes back, which they need to get out of the heads because it's no happening, and the thought of trading away players for picks hasn't even crossed their minds.
But yeah I would be all for trading away both Maggette and Cassell, to get something for them, but I doubt that they will do anything.

Thats good because of right now I don't see a problem with the Clippers trading anyone not named Brand, Thornton, or Kaman. Cassell if he plays another, which it seems like he will, most likely won't do it in a Clippers uniform so might as well get some value for him and send him to a contender and as for Maggette I don't know if he will stay either at this point.

Re: Jumpin James Set To Return In Late Feb
brand should be at the top of the list for potential trades, if it means getting a superstar in return. Thornton as well, as hes one of our most valuable trade pieces, if were getting a star wing player in return. Kaman probably is the only untouchable guy now on the clippers...supposedly was untouchable before, how much more so after the numbers hes p utting up.
cassell and maggette are also valuable trading pieces as they are expiring deals. Mobley and thomas are almost unmoveable contracts, only if were probably taking an equally poor contract in return.
