Diaz gone
http://www.latimes.com/sports/basket...,1322573.story
Quote:
The Clippers parted ways with guard Guillermo Diaz, with the expiration of his second 10-day contract. Diaz, a guard who was their second round draft selection last season, was brought in to help the Clippers while Brevin Knight recovered from a stress reaction.
The Clippers are expected to bring in and evaluate other guards for 10-day contracts.

Re: Diaz gone
Oh man. Not this again. I hated it when we did this last year. It was like Luke Jackson, Alvin Williams, Doug Christie 2x, Von Wafer, Will Conroy, Jason Hart, and then Conroy again (after we waived big Zeljko Rebraca). You cannot reasonably expect a team to function correctly when the guy that's running their offense is never more than 20 days. The 10-day contract is a way for the Clippers to avoid signing a real free agent (ala Earl Boykins) in order to save money. The revolving door only hurts the team. Bring Guillermo back and sign the check.

Re: Diaz gone
Yawn. They have Dickau, no place for another PG on the permanent roster. Unless of course the venerable Yuta Tabuse is available.

Re: Diaz gone
Let's give Yaroslav Korolev a 10 day contract, I heard that he's a mix of AK-47 and Peja .
Edit: But seriously, can we sign a big and waive Williams? I won't mind Vitaly Potapenko.

Concur. Williams' days as a serviceable backup are over. I would take 52 year-old Kevin Willis over Aaron at this point.

If we waive Williams, which I'm all for by the way, I have a different guy I'd like to try out instead of Potapenko: Wayne Simein was a horse a few years ago for Kansas and rotted on Miami's bench behind Shaq, Udonis, Antoine Walker, and Zo. Let's give this dude a chance.

Not a bad idea, he's just kind of small for the center position at 6'9''. But then again, so is Williams. I'd definitely give Simien a shot.

Right, well he could play PF too. If we keep trying to fastbreak, it won't matter to much anyway. ANother move I'd make as GM of the Clippers is trade a 2nd round pick to either Milwaukee or Dallas for either Ramon Sessions or J.J. Barea. Both of these guys don't have the luxury of being given a chance and we could give it to them. Our 2nd rounders haven't panned out too well the past few years anyway, so we don't have much to lose.
