Clippers sign Nick Fazekas to a 2nd 10 day contract
http://www.ocregister.com/sports/sam...clippers-chris
Quote:
The Clippers are expected to sign rookie Nick Fazekas, a 6-foot-11 center who was the Dallas Mavericks' 2007 second-round pick, to a 10-day contract Wednesday. Fazekas played in four games with the Mavericks but spent most of this season with the Mavericks' Developmental League affiliate Tulsa 66ers.
Fazekas started 24 of the 28 games he played with Tulsa and averaged 19.9 points and 9.9 rebounds. He was selected to play in the D-League all-star game earlier this month in New Orleans, but he did not play. Dallas waived Fazekas a week ago.
"He can shoot the ball, and he has some (low-post) skills," Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. "Plus he's a rookie."

This is an incredibly solid pickup. With the season in the toilet, maybe we'll find a diamond in the rough that can help us out next year. Fazekas had a great PER rating at Nevada U., and I'm excited to see what the kid can do.

Calm down man. Look into Fazekas and I think you'll be pleasently surprised.
However, I do agree with you. We need a new coach and gm. But there is a silver lining: They both have to die eventually.

Fazekas is solid...and I'm glad we got him.
This will just end up to be Guillermo Diaz part duex though, won't get more then 20 total minutes which sucks because I'd like him over Powell to be the second/third big off the bench.

Re: Clippers to sign Nick Fazekas to a 10 day contract
the most annoying thing about the clippers getting players, that they never give em enough minutes to really find out whether they are going to be able to help us
since this seen is over for us, why not bring in young guys and try to give em time n see what they can do?

Re: Clippers to sign Nick Fazekas to a 10 day contract
I went to a few of Fazekas workouts during the summer last year. Hes got some nice outside touch. He was one I hoped the clippers would have a shot at in the second round.
If this terrible situation of the cassell buyout comes true, i predict we also sign a PG to a 10 day contract. Then, whomever plays the best out of the 20 days, fazekas or the guard, will get a guaranteed deal for the rest of the year. However, fazekas has brands possible return as a hinderence to getting signed I would imagine.

The Los Angeles Clippers today signed free agent forward Nick Fazekas to a 10-day contract. Drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round (34th overall selection) of the 2007 NBA Draft, Fazekas appeared in four games with Dallas this season, averaging 1.0 point and 0.8 rebounds.

Re: Clippers sign Nick Fazekas to a 10 day contract
Fazekas was a good college player, but he always had trouble coming through in the big games and he's simply not nearly good enough of an athlete to be an NBA player. He can shoot pretty well, but he's way to slow to ever be counted on for any decent minutes in the NBA. Likable guy, but he's not going to make it in the NBA. With that said, it's not like handing him a 10 day contract is a bad move, there's virtually no risk involved.

Re: Clippers sign Nick Fazekas to a 10 day contract
But unlike paul davis who is equally slow and perhaps undersized to be a 5 in the nba, fazekas has 3 point range and very nice outside shot. If he can hone that in, he might be able to find himself on an nba roster for the next 5 years..
