I can see why Chase would want to stay with Brandon Jennings[the best PG prospect in the nation] coming in next year. If Bayless and him are to stay...then 'Zona will be extremelly scary next year with Brandon, Bayless and Budinger...sick.

Re: 2008 draft?
^^^Yeah, Brandon Jennings is pretty sick. Pure PG, lighting quick with some of the illest handles I've ever seen. Damn, I wish he was eligible for this draft.

Re: 2008 draft?
Yeah, hopefully Mayo will drop to our pick, he might have dropped recently in mock drafts, but he's probably the best confidence/talent/potential combination next to Rose.

Re: 2008 draft?
and hes got that superstar mentality that we are in dire need of. I think dunleavvy would be pleased with his perimeter defense too. Hed be the best perimeter defender we have had since jaric, and IMO is better than jaric at that.

hopefully better than simmons was at perimeter D also
so is it becoming a general consensus that we want Mayo or Rose?

We'd need to get lucky like Toronto, Portland and the Bucks did for Rose..but Mayo could fall right to us.
Another thing I won't mind doing is if we can get multiple picks such as our pick for #11 and #20 or so...and take Russell Westbrook at 11. The guy has some solid defense, mainly deny defense as he shut Mayo down singlehandedly, but also provides nice excitement with some sick jams. Then with #20, there is so many ways we can go. We can get our backup C in Oglivey from Vanderbilt, a backup PF in DJ White from Indy or Ryan Anderson from Cal or get ourselves another combo guard in Kyle Weaver from Wazzou.

Re: 2008 draft?
If available I would take Mayo. He is from USC, would be a huge ticket draw, and if he plays like he has recently he is the best player available for this draft.

Yeah but if the clippers are going to revamp the whole team (which they need to do badly), Mayo/Rose/Beasley/whoever can be our new star, those later round picks will be building up our bench (hopefully).
Personally anything beyond #10 or so, i'd rather trade away for a semi-proven young player. We haven't ever really been good with late round picks. Thornton was just about our best pick ever beyond #10, i dunno if we'll get lucky like that again.

Re: 2008 draft?
Rose (won't be there at 7), Bayless, and Mayo wouldn't be bad. Any good PG/SG should help a lot. I hope the Clippers get fortunate and are either able to move down a somewhere in the top 5 with their record or get real fortunate and jump into the top 3 via the lottery.

Re: 2008 draft?
i've always been a "hope for the best, but prepare for the worst" type of guy...that being said, let's say that we miss out on the top 2 picks...i think that after beasley and rose, the talent level drops down very very very far...
so lets say that we have the chance to take mayo or westbrook...
i saw both games today...ucla vs. cal, and usc vs. stanford...westbrook and mayo were arguably the best player in each respective game...
mayo: great handles, didn't make many mistakes, great stroke from outside, absolutely no hesitation in pulling the trigger...great perimeter defense...very smart player...but let's not get carried away, as he has had a 10 to game in the past...one glaring negative is that he absolutely refuses to take the ball to the rack...he has the tools to do it, but he just doesn't....he has the handles, power, quickness but he just doesn't...
westbrook: very underrated offensively...seems like the third or fourth option on offense but kept ulca in the game today...he could do a lot better if he was the #1 option, but a very unselfish player who plays within the system and defers to collison, love, and shipp...great at penetration and is a good shooter from outside...great defender himself...one year younger than mayo, with one more year of college experience...
the clippers need a drive and dish type guard with the ability to finish, and the ability to hit the out | |
