blatantly tanking team: miami...
it's not realistic/probable that the clippers will get the #1 overall pick...however, the blazers had the sixth worst record last year, and still got the #1 overall pick...it's not hopeless...right now, the clippers have the sixth worst record...that win against memphis really hurt us...anyways, regardless of how hopeless our season has been, the clippers have refused to tank...as evidenced by player signings, and the continued use of maggette and kaman...not to mention brand's potential comeback....
so far, this season, one team has been blatantly tanking...miami....new york was kinda tanking when they sat randolph for no reason, but they have since started him once again....
i just started this thread to express my displeasure at riley and the heat organization and i for one hope they they fall out of the first two picks....of course i want the clippers to get a top two pick, but it would be more satisfying to me if miami fell out of the top three...blatant tankers just piss me off....especially when the team is not the clippers....i hope miami gets boston'd/memphis'd....like last year, i hope a team that tries till the end gets the #1 overall pick....much like last year and the blazers....

Re: blatantly tanking team: miami...
yes the clippers deserve the #1 pick. and they deserve to not waste it on a scrub. and the blazers deserve #2.
I always liked the clipps, and was really happy for them when they started winning, especially getting to the second round a few years ago. i was really bummed to see them fall off again. kaman is a damn beast, if he can keep this up next year with brand, the clipps will have a great frontcourt, especially with beasley.
clipps
shaun livingston
corey maggette
Beasley
Brand
Kaman
blazers
rose
Roy
Martell
LMA
Oden

Re: blatantly tanking team: miami...
Add Bucks to the mix, I was reading yesterday that they have "lost" 20 games when leading going into the 4th. I hope others don't see the Clippers as tanking just because they have been losing a lot recently because they aren't they just have been bad. I wouldn't mind the Clippers resting someone like Kaman though, don't want to see his back flare up again.

i definitely would not...
at the 3/4 spot, we already have thorton, maggette, thomas, ross...and a couple more...
at the pg spot, we have knight, dickau and a busted livingston...

I wouldn't. Why add a player to where we already have a ton at? If we do end up with the #1 pick, I won't mind trading down and getting something else in return. Something like "#1" for "#2 and the 31st overall" or somehting so we can get Rose, like we want, and get a prospect.

No way dude, Beasley may be great & all... but i'd rather rip my arm off than draft another forward at this point...

Re: blatantly tanking team: miami...
I think we're better off with Mayo... Rose is scared of stitches.

number 1, beasley is a no brainer at this point. but if we end up with 6-8, (thanks to 2-3 wins we SHOULD not have won in the last couple of months), then we just have to hope mayo is still there. Either that or trade down for another pick plus player, or future pick.

Re: blatantly tanking team: miami...
oh yeah, another option would be perhaps, lets say we get the 6th pick and memphis gets 2. They might not want to get rose, due to having a million PG's. So perhaps we could trade them a couple number 1's to move up. Either that or we should be able to pry one of their PGs away from them. Either that OR for some odd reason that means rose is available at 3, and we can offer the same things.

i don't think any gm in his right mind will try to trade out of the chance to draft rose, even f they already have tons of pg's....
and i don't think beasley at #1 is a no brainer...i would rather take rose regardless of team needs...
i think that rose is the no brainer at #1...
