Miller was a nice player, but he isn't a superstar. And, it wasn't all the coaches fault for his problems last year. Miller half a$$ed it for most of the year last year, and that hurt him as much as anything else.

I wouldnt have minded bringing Miller back with a new coach, but investing the money to him, Brand, and Maggette would have tied our hands for the next 6 years on the cap. We wouldnt be a playoff team in the West, and we would have no maneuvering ability until we moved one of those guys in a trade. So it made sense to let him walk, even though he could still have been solid for us.

Maybe I was a bit hard on Dre before. He did have some pretty bad coaching in LA, but how good were Randy Whitmann and John Lucas? But still, Miller has never been on a winning team. The most wins in a season on any of his teams has been 30 games. He did put up good numbers, but all of them were on losing teams. Although I will admit Cleveland is an NBA wasteland (pre-Lebron), and that the Clippers last season had quite a few distractions. His real trouble last season didn't begin until Odom came back,he didn't have the ball in his hands as much. So maybe with some good coaching and focused young players around him that won't demand to dribble as much, he will pick up where he left off before leaving Cleveland.

Anyways, back to the topic, Terry should get a similar deal to the one Miller received unless he takes the 1 year tender and tries again next summer, which might be the best option for him at this point seeing as how Atlanta doesn't look like it will be a winning franchise anytime soon.
