Angry Dre

Any of you caught the "World Championship of Basketball" going on in Indianapolis?

It's been my first chance to take a look at Dre.

He's the unselfish guard. He'd rather pass than shoot.
Well, after you see him shoot a few times you'll know why.

They gave up Miles for him? Come crunch time in Indianapolis the coach has Baron Davis at the point.

Ok, you're right, it's too soon to judge. But if he can't shoot any better than he's shown he isn't going to help the team. Opponents have to play him honest or they'll be able to double somebody else.

Hey, Andre CAN score. He just likes to set up his teammates better. In the game I saw in Portland vs. Germany, he played about half the 40 minute game and had like 8 assists and 6 points. Sure it was with the USA teammates, and it was against Germany, but that is pretty impressive to me.

Why wouldnt you want a guy who would rather pass than shoot? You have players at every possition who can put up 20+ a night. Having a guy who can hook them all up is a great asset. Miller is probably one of the best fits you could get for a point on the Clips.

I don't know what you're expecting from Dre, if you're expecting a high scoring PG, you might want to change your thoughts, he's an all around player, more into getting his teammates involved, when you having a lot of offense like the Clipps, you need a play-maker and floor leader to direct traffic, set-up players, and create oppurtunities, he's going to be very impressive, don't judge his game based on what you see in the world championships, actually he's in the top 4 on the US Team in scoring, (last I heard) He's been doing just fine for his team.

He's got a nice touch and ball-handling skills. You would rather have the out of control, hot headed McGinnis running the team again??, they won't get anywhere with him.

Like I mentioned on your last thread....
We lost Miles, But I'm sure Wilcox will provide the High flying act next year

Who knows if Andre Miller is the perfect fit for this team.

What we do know is that he is a HUGE upgrade at the PG spot and he is a player that cannot possibly hurt this team(high character, unselfish, pass first).

There was one thing Jeff McInnis could do last year. That was score for himself, from about 18ft in.

Andre Miller is great at that too. Knock the range on his J all you want, McInnis had no 3pt range either. Miller is money from 18ft in. He can drive and score on his own, or he can knock down the mid range J.

Where the upgrade comes from is that Miller can do just about everything you want a PG to do, and he can do many more things than McInnis.

Using the World Championships as an example - Miller has shown the ability to push the ball, which is HUGE for this team. McInnis slowed the team down.
Miller has shown the ability to run a set offense and get other players involved. McInnis could only score for himself. He is horrible at setting up for others.
Miller can drive and dish, or drive and finish. McInnis could only drive and finish.
Miller is a solid defender. McInnis is pathetic.

Miller is a huge upgrade for this team, and he gives the team a fantastic floor leader, and a player to hold the rock in crunch time.

If he isn't perfect for this team, I think he's damn close.
