I'll take Kaman.
Kaman has shown a lot of potential especially during the end of the season, Pavel on the other had hasn't played in the NBA yet so you can't really tell what type of player he will become.

I'll take pavel. Kaman seems one skill of a very decent player.
Kaman rebounds well. He sometimes reminds me of a better rebounding rik smits without a jump shot.
or a taller Jerome williams (JYD) In that hes always energetic. I think if he develops a post game and a nice jump shot he will be quite decent.
But pavel could come in and really be a defensive presence. No harm in having both, kaman could split time with pavel at center. I dont see Pavel logging on huge minutes in his first year.
But why would they choose pavel unless they move down. Theres dwight howard available. Unless they trade down and get pavel later.
That way they could get a point guard through trading down, and pavel in the draft. hmmm interesting.

The only way I see the Clippers getting Pavel is if they trade their pick to Atlanta for the #6 and #17, and if Pavel slips to #17 then the Clippers pick him up. But I am not sure if the Clippers really need him seeing that they have Kaman.

Yep. If anyone here doesn't visit the RealGM Clippers board, this same question came up over there and it's impossible to write two better posts than the moderator of that board wrote over there.
Quote:
Where do I start?
--That Kaman was the only Clipper to play all 82 games? Hell, he one of only three rookies to play all 82 games. He’s good at playing basketball and able to do it all the time.
--The fact that Kaman finished 11th in rookie in the All-Rookie voting—and third among big men, and that the difference between 8th and 11th was 2 votes? In one of the deepest drafts in history? Other people know he’s good at playing basketball.
--The fact that Maggette said Kaman “is a good player who is growing each day. He has great basketball sense and he's only going to get better. “ Corey said the Clippers need a veteran C to complement him. Brand said that Kaman was great to play alongside. Dunleavy says “"He's got tremendous skills, and we're just starting to tap into them." His coach and teammates know he’s good at playing basketball and like toplay alongside him.
--His shooting percentage went up every month of the season. Fouls and turnovers went down. He shot better and had a better assist/turnover ratio than Kandi did in four years here. He’s 21. He’s improving at playing basketball.
Pavel Podkolzine...well, like you said…he’s the second best three point shooter at a camp in Europe. And he’s done well in a day of drills this year after…doing well at a day of drills last year. A shame that he keeps getting injured and has a medical condition and can’t seem to do the little things like play basketball.

Left out the part about the lousy stamina, and how he didn't get back on defense, and his lousy decision making and basketball skills and how he "looks lost a lot of times," din'tcha?
But, hey, as long as we get rid of pro basketball and have a bunch of drills and three point shooting contests instead of that confusing game where Pavel lacks skills and decision making ability and looks lost (which explains why he's been so lousy for two years in Italy and get outplayed by an 18 year old C we already have the rights to, then Pavel's our guy!

Well said, enough said. I saw this thread and thought Kaman in a no brainer because hes already very solid and he has a nice development curve. He'll end up being a good starting center who is actually a legit center, who is the size of a center, and plays like a center. Thats pretty valuable in a league full of 6'9 bangers pretending to be centers and 7'2 "centers" who play like guards. I want my center to play underneath and be a center, not shoot threes.
Kaman is the most slept on rookie in a draft class that included players who recieved a ton of attention like Lebron, Melo, Wade, etc.

I get to see a few Clipper games and Kaman was the biggest surprise last year. He's a keeper. He hustles like no one else and he's pretty good at snatching boards. From what I've read about him in the LA times last year, he seems like a real down to earth kind of guy.

There is more to defense than just being big. Podkolzin doesn't have the defensive mentality, nor does he have the defensive instincits to be a standout defender.
Defense is one of his weaker points.
I dont see why he'd be a defensive presence, when, aside from height, he possesses nothing to warrant that.
If the Clippers just want size, they can play their own 7'2 300+ C Josh Moore.

Chris is way more polished than Pavel is. He also plays with great intensity, something I dont know if Pavel can match. Chris has above average court vision for a center as well. He is a hustle guy who will go after every loose ball. I would not even consider taking another center in this draft, let alone Pavel.
