Another LG insider who seems to have some credibility has posted this today:

-Boozer deal is dead

-confirms the Bender trade

-says LA likes Granger and May

-says another deal in the works for power 4

-disgruntled all star is not Francis, Magloire

Re: "all star" trade rumor - who is it?

Jason Kidd maybe? He's not exactly happy that he's getting farther and farther away from winning a championship. He's 32 yes and isn't a great shooter, but I think it might be him.

Why does LA have to like May? I hope he is either gone by the team they want to take him, or they decide to draft somebody else

Re: "all star" trade rumor - who is it?

wouldn't it be funny if it turns out to be Ron Artest? and it's part of the deal that includes the 17th pick with Caron Butler going to the Pacers. It's possible since Phil Jackson says he's hesitant, it makes sense because he already has Lamar Odom and a bunch of other SF's...and he doesn't want another head case in Ron Artest since the Lakers want "HARMONY" this season. I don't know...it could happen..if it does tho...

Kobe Artest and Odom.... I would like to see how that goes.

Re: "all star" trade rumor - who is it?

I think the Jason Kidd idea could work extremely well, however I don't know what happens to Butler if that happens.

What would it take?

So for the disgruntled all stars... I see only Lewis, Garnett and possibly O'neal as guys that it would be referencing.

Or, it could be referencing one of the free agents (which would require a sign and trade).

Of course... this is the part where the source says: "I didn't mean an all star THIS year...

So basically... this 'could' be a disgruntled past or present all star... which is akin to saying bubkiss...

um most of these guys made the playoffs also

Cool Re: "all star" trade rumor - who is it?

This thread at LG contains some more hints...

Quote:
It was a big day in LA. Two teams cut off talks with the Lakers vis a vis moving up in the draft. Another got more serious and still another is only willing to talk if the trade involves some pretty big names and some big contracts.

Meanwhile, plans to grab a power player via trade/free agency have heated up. This is unexpected, and I think, very very good for the Lakers.

I'm surprised this name hasn't leaked out yet.

• Drew Gooden??? Oh no no no. Head case. Major, known head case. Not Gooden.

Melvin Ely? You're kidding right?

"Power" player = 4 or 5.

• I'm not surprised that no one knows who it is. I'm surprised that no one has leaked the name yet.

• Haha, sorry to just leave that hanging out there. Mostly, I just wanted to post that talks are ongoing and progress is being made.

Some of you guys are surprisingly insightful.

• Guys, if something was done, or even close to being done, I'd have no problem spilling the name. But there is a serious lock down on this particular plan... as you can tell given that this name hasn't hit the press yet.

I can, however, tell you this: trade talks with Utah have broken off. No Boozer, and no 6th.

• I thought I dropped several hints already. Some of you seem to have caught on to one or two of them.

• That's one thing I can confirm. The Lakers are pursuing Griffin. He is on the "short list" of guys to use the MLE on. Not saying the whole thing, they might split it up.

• The big contracts comment did not refer to anyone on the Lakers.

Just sit back and relax guys, this will all come down the pipe shortly. The real problem is, that nothing is done yet. I can't tell you about something that hasn't happened. And for the good of the team, sometimes, you can't leak out every name that is being discussed. I'm sure you can appreciate that.

Rest assured, every angle is being covered. Mitchell is not asleep at the switch. Phillip has been very hands on so far. People are talking and there is definately a plan in place. Just wait another week or so, and I should have something more substantive I can tell you.

• WOW.

This thread really blew up over night.

Well, Laker fans have got to be the smartest fans in the NBA. You guys have incredible insight into what goes on in a GMs office.

• Friends, Z is not a possibility for the MLE. He wants big dollars and there are teams willing to give it to him. Remember, he's an all-star center. How many of those are left in the league?
