Kwame starting to show up?
Last five games...
LA Clippers: 10 points, 10 rebounds, 1 block in 40 minutes
Indiana: 9 points, 9 rebounds in 31 minutes
Portland: 4 points, 4 rebounds in 22 minutes
Cleveland: 8 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks in 34 minutes
Golden State: 18 points, 12 rebounds in 38 minutes
Averages: 9.8ppg (54.3%FG), 8.8rpg in 33mpg
Shoot, I'll take that any day of the week. Since he's been starting again, the Lakers have gone 5-1 (let's not talk about how Kobe has been back since then too ). The way he was dunking the ball and attacking the rum in the game against the Warriors made me think that his confidence is really starting to grow. However, I do see that a glaring problem he has is that whenever he gets the ball, he is thinking, "Pass first, shoot second." The guy is huge and could smash anyone he wanted down underneath the rim. The amount of time it takes for him to finally decide to back his defender down is just ridiculous.
Thoughts on Kwame's progress?

Re: Kwame starting to show up?
I said that if he could come back from injury and earn starter minutes from Phil, that he'd average 13/9. So far, he's doing exactly that whenever he gets starter minutes. It's great to finally see him developing.
And I agree with your thoughts; he's finally dunking more often and aggressively instead of laying garbage up at the rim. He's more assertive in general and his mid-range jumper and FT shooting have improved 10-fold since the beginning of the season (when it was so bad I couldn't help but laugh).
Overall, I'll take 13/9 plus great post defense every single day of the week and twice on Sundays over Caron Butler and/or Chucky Atkins. And Parker is already better than Atkins anyway.

That Portland game was still an eye-sore.

I would agree with you (on Kwame over Butler and Atkins) if Kwame was a 13 and 9 player. I don't see it happening. He had a night tonight that Chris Mihm has done like 10 times this season. He was playing so horribly to begin the season that playing acceptable is improvement. Kwame is still our worst starter but hopefully is no longer a offensive liability.
Hell, I was the biggest Kwame pessimist after the deal and I predicted something like 8 points and 8 boards and him being a inferior player to Mihm and I was told I was too extreme with the Kwame hate. Now he averages that for 5 games and people want to celebrate.

Re: Kwame starting to show up?
I watched the Warriors game and even though I'm not a Laker fan I can see why everyone is so frustrated with him. He's probably the biggest power forward in the NBA, has great athleticism, and yet he struggles to crack double digits in any statistical category. It's mind-boggling, he should be doing that every night.

Come on man, We're celebrating due to fact Kwame looks like he's been actually trying to play well and hes playing with heart. Kwame IMO has improved very much and will continue to. Im still all for the trade, after all i am the one who said it 1st!

Re: Kwame starting to show up?
I will not jump on the "Kwame has turned the corner" bandwagon until I see him play like this for another dozen games.
