Nope, Phil prefers experienced players on the court. He isn't too high on rookies.

you forget that he has been, characteristically, when he was coaching championship caliber teams... not ones that are developing as we are (last season, none of our rookies had much promise to be anything good, unlike farmar).

if you paid notice, you could see that phil has done a little more babying for the team this year (through speaking with the media). he had to change his previous style of coaching to attune himself to the team. i think he's been more 'optomistic' and has complimented the players more this year.

Re: Jordan Interview on 570

Assuming they don't sign a veteran PG...

Smush can be a weapon but he is more likely to aggravate Phil when he plays out of control.
Sasha, his next option, could not defend the Gatorade bucket.
Jordan is hard-working defender who played for a demanding coach. I can see Phil going to him after a few games and not looking back.

Re: Jordan Interview on 570

do you watch the lakers play? smush doesn't play that out of control, he just turns the ball over a lot. vujacic is surprisingly a decent defender, if not slightly good.

Thats true. He does a good job in covering his man but he does get fouls rather too quickly. I love it when he gest too the opposing players head, that to me is priceless.

Re: Jordan Interview on 570

Wow. Totally disagree. I can't count how many times I watched aging point guards blow by Sasha. The really quick and talented guards really take advantage of him. Mostly he just grabs on to those guys.

In regards to earlier defense of Smush.. i would say a Point Guard who turns over the ball too much is playing out of control. Especially since Phil wants Kobe and Lamar handling the ball.

Re: Jordan Interview on 570

so if you have bad ball handling skills, but play very much within the system.. that means you play wild? i dont buy that logic.

Re: Jordan Interview on 570

All I have to say is Smush would make some questionable moves and then sit on the bench for long periods of time. Phil seemed to pull him a lot.

Don't get me wrong, I like Smush..and there were games where he was on fire. For me it gets into the Devean George argument. Would you rather have some great games mixed with some awful games or consistency?

If the rumors are true and the Lakers are looking to bring in Shammond Williams, I would think that he is being brought in to challenge Smush. Either that or Sasha is as good as traded.
