Let's Look At This Realistically
I'm a new poster here...and so far i noticed that alot of people are expecting a championship from this team, whether it be one year from now or two...but i think we got to face the facts this team is no where close to winning a championship...we could possibly become contenders but to win it all you need help, and thats something kobe just doesnt have enough of....and this is thread is taking nothing away from kobe, he's one of the greatest players to play the game possibly top 20 ever, and the second greatest shooting guard ever second only to jordan....but honestly do we really expect a supporting cast of lamar odom, kwame brown, and smush parker to win it all, i dont think so...i personally think the lakers would be better off trading any and all type of talent for a player like garnett, or maybe a youngster like bosh...if we dont we WONT win a championship any time in the near future...we could also take the other route and get ourselves under the tax limit and trade some of our young talent for draft picks and hope to draft a player that will give us that push for a championship in the future, but not now we shouldnt expect one...i just wanted to get that off my chest feel free to debate my point, cause honestly id love to be proven wrong

Re: Let's Look At This Realistically
I don't think you're going to find anyone around here expecting a championship this year. I think we'll be better than last year, and I think a lot of the Lakers fans that post here would agree. Welcome to BBnet

Re: Let's Look At This Realistically
yes i agree. anyone actual expecting a championship in the next one to two years is crazy. The best we can hope for is just to keep improving our record year after year until we reach championship status once again. i think anywhere from 48-52 wins this years will be a successful season

Re: Let's Look At This Realistically
I think any and all efforts to get one of those players are/were being made, but they're just that difficult to obtain. Until they are on the table(mabye never), I do think this suppporting cast is shaping up around Kobe bryant, and the foundation of a championship team is there. A few tweaks, some Maturation by the youngsters, and a couple years in the system, and we will be at that level. but I don't think anyone thinks we are there yet, realisticly anyway.

To hell with being realistic...I'm gonna root for our guys every game like they've got a chance to win it all...stranger things have happened.

Re: Let's Look At This Realistically
I agree with the above posts. We aren't winning a championship this year, but we can become better. A 50-win season and second round exit would more than satisfy me.

I'm not expecting a championship this year but, if they lose in the first round again they will have not met expectations. Welcome to BBB.net

Re: Let's Look At This Realistically
Not expecting to win a championship, but to advance to the second round of the playoffs. Oh yea, Kobe going for 100 points next and the MVP award (wishfull thinking). And most importantly, welcome to bbb.net

Re: Let's Look At This Realistically
if Lamer can be the 2nd consistent scorer, go to guy...and "superstar" next to Kobe the lakers have a chance, if not they need to get atleast a saavy veteran than can give them some consistent scoring ..besides KObes points....and with Kobe on the team anything can happen

Re: Let's Look At This Realistically
I see, I'm sorry I made such a statement, i retract it. I will also say this though, the way the Lakers are going I don't expect Kobe Bryant to ever win a championship again. He just doesn't have the help, I don't believe Lamar fills the role as the Lakers second option. I don't think he ever will, but thats just my opinion. I know the Lakers will come back to form and create another dynasty, but I think its really unlikely it will happen with Kobe.
