Brown is ready in reserve

EL SEGUNDO - All Kwame Brown needed to see was Portland's Zach Randolph pounding the Lakers for 36 points and 10 rebounds in Wednesday's game to realize just how much the team needed him back, bad shoulder and all.

"Andrew (Bynum is) going to be great," Brown said, "but I still see spots like last night where Zach Randolph had his way with us in the post. So I'm looking to come back and try to establish our post defense."

Brown will get that chance for the first time this season when he comes off the bench for the Lakers tonight against Detroit. He missed the last six games of the preseason and first six games of the regular season after injuring his right shoulder.

After returning to practice Thursday, Brown's shoulder was able to withstand a couple of blows from Bynum and forward Brian Cook. His biggest concern has been using his right arm to fend off players in the post.

"It's just when it gets late in the game, I'm going to probably have to just soldier through it because it gets fatigued and it starts to hurt," Brown said. "It's just something I'm going to have to deal with."

Im glad hes supportive instead of jealous of Andrew Bynum comin up. We really need him for his man to man post D.

Re: Brown is ready in reserve

I like that Kwame sees an identity in himself. HE said we need me for post defense. I think that identity is something he has been lacking in his career. I agree that it is nice to see Kwame supportive of Bynum, but he really doesnt have a choice. Everyone can see how soft a touch Bynum has around the basket, something Kwame is severly lacking.

It will be good to see him tonight.

Re: Brown is ready in reserve

Bynum still has a whole lot to prove kwame has had better sretces in is career than Bynum is currently having, Bynum has to show it for a long stretch.

Kwame is gonna help alot and if he picks up his offensive and rebounding ways from the last 2 month's of last season we're gonna have 2 very good post options scoring and rebounding plus defending. Its not either or I don;t know why some lakers fans cast teammaes against each other. the team is stronger and better now that kwame's back.

Re: Brown is ready in reserve

Finally, some much needed height in the secondary for the frontcourt. Welcome back Kwame.
