Have you seen Smush Parker play? Probably not.

Re: Jermaine O'Neal?
Sorry, I wouldn't want Tinsley in any kind of deal. He's a cancer to teams, and has his off the court problems. If he can ever fix those problems, I'd definitely take him over Smush Parker any day of the week.

Tinsley's trash. You wouldn't need to add anyone in to convince the Pacers to part with him (THEY'VE BEEN TRYING TO TRADE HIM FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS--HIS CONTRACT IS A PAIN IN THEIR ***!). I'm not sure acquiring him would be that much of a plus because the situation that hurts the Lakers right now, other than their current self defeating personality, is the situation at center and point guard---BOTH POSITIONS SUCK!!! The front office (i.e. Jerry Buss' son) adores Bynum too much to trade him and Phil may be reluctant to let Mitch trade a player of Odom's caliber if he's not getting a player like Kidd or Garnett in return.

Re: Jermaine O'Neal?
What? Odom is better than Jermaine. What would be the point of this trade? PF is not a problem area for you guys. Sure you could use some depth cause Odom seems a bit injury prone but thats it. You need to find yourselves a solid point guard.

I agree I definitely prefer Odom over Jermaine. Jermaine is injury proned as well, and it would take awhile for him to get used to the system we run here. Odom was playing great prior to injuries this season. I'd much rather go out and try to find a solid point guard, where it doesn't involve us giving up Odom.
If we happen to get O'neal, we better not be giving up Odom. I like BH's idea of giving up some of our young guys for him. We could then move Odom to the 3 spot, with Walton coming off the bench.

Re: Jermaine O'Neal?
Same here. JO shows flashes of brilliance every now and then but over all is limited in what he can and cant do on the court. I'd keep LO over him in a second.

Re: Jermaine O'Neal?
Lakers aren't winning anything as long as Smush is our point guard.

whoa, wait a second. I'd take lamar over JO because he fits better in the triangle, but lets not underrate jerm here. prior to the injuries, he has been a Perennial all-star, and when healthy, is still one of the best big men in the league. I agree, though, lamar would be too steep a price

"PRIOR TO THE INJURIES" is the key word here. The Lakers are unlikely to deal Lamar unless it's for someone like Kevin Garnett (I don't think they'd even give him up for Kidd). The Lakers have spent too much time adjusting him to the Triangle offense to give him up that lightly. Another problem is where to put Jermaine. Is he a center? a power forward? Can he man the position he's typically best at(PF) in the triangle. That's been Kwame's problem since coming here- he's a natural PF but is unsuited to play in the Triangle offense. It's also been an issue with Lamar (who's a natural SF) but is too lax a player to consistently put up numbers from that position in the Triangle.

JO is not chris webber. It was only 2 years ago that Jerm was averaging 20, 10 and 2.5 and was a top 5 big man in the L. he's only 28, he has plenty of time to bounce back. he not exactly a great passer, but I'm sure he'd do fine at either the 4 or the 5 in the triangle.
and again, I wouldn't give up lamar either, but we should make every effort to land him w/o giving up lamar and (obviously) kobe

Re: Jermaine O'Neal?
I am losing patience with Odom, he has got to get rid of the nice guy image on the basketball court. He needs to play with anger, attack the rim, don't worry about passing if you are open, don't hang around three point line, block some shots, you are freaking 6 10.

I'm not sure it's even a nice guy image but more of a whiney image-- constantly yelling and screaming after every foul call doesn't help you with the referrees, ESPECIALLY IF YOU PLAY FOR THE LAKERS.
