I cant tell if you are being sarcastic or not, so I will play both sides of the argument.

I think his best offseason move so far is getting Karl Malone and GP to come to the Lakers. Almost won a championhip that year and we would have if Malone hadnt suffered the first injury of his career. Payton sucked as a Laker (what can u do?). I also like his deal to get Mo Evans last year.

In defense of Mitch, Shammond got injured last year. He was also supposed to add a veteran's touch at pt guard but wasnt healthy (or good enough). Also, although it never got used, Shammond was another expiring contract that could have been useful in a trade to a team trying to dump salary.

I was almost convinced that Shammond (1.75 mil) and Mihm (4.5 mil) were going to be packaged for a MLE level player at the trade dealine last year.

mitch had nothing to do with getting karl and GP. it was an obvious choice, and shaq was the guy who recruited those guys to come.

You may be right, I really dont know. He was our GM at the time, but I wouldnt be surprised if he wasnt even involved in the recruiting process.
