Kobe Meets With Kupchak
Quote:
Lakers star and general manager give no details after their meeting at El Segundo facility.
By Mike Bresnahan, Times Staff Writer
June 23, 2007
With his trip to Spain behind him and an uncertain future ahead, Kobe Bryant spent Friday morning in a familiar place.
The unhappy superstar met with Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak for about an hour at the team's training facility in El Segundo.
Although it was believed that their first face-to-face meeting since the nine-time All-Star made a public plea to rehire Jerry West didn't change Bryant's mind as far as his trade demand, it did open a new dialogue between Bryant and management, sources said.
Kupchak declined to provide any specifics of their conversation, which took place a day after Minnesota forward Kevin Garnett reportedly vetoed a trade to Boston.
"We did meet, and what was said between the two of us will remain between us," Kupchak said.
Bryant's agent, Rob Pelinka, was unavailable for comment.

Hopefully something good came out of this...

Okay, so Mitch is going to slavage this damaged relationship?? Now that is the funniest thing I've heard in a long time.

Not to me. Mitch I don't think is that bad at all. It's Jim Buss that is the one screwing up deals for us.

Re: Kobe Meets With Kupchak
too hard to tell the truth. maybe mitch is bad, maybe he's decent. i think none of knows who really makes the calls.
maybe mitch wanted to make some trades, but couoldn't because jerry or jim... i feel that mitch is probably a hesitant GM though, but who knows.

Re: Kobe Meets With Kupchak
We would have more cap space if Mitch voided Rad's contract when he had the chance. Opps, stupid GM, oh well.

Its the F.O. as a whole. While the Lakers stink, Mitch continues to be stupid and Buss is out in his mercedes drinking and banging a 20 year old.

My main point was I don't think we are giving Mitch a fair deal on always blaming him, when it is probably someone higher up that is the main problem such as Jim or Jerry.
I agree our whole front office is messed up though. Everyone of them seem to be brain dead.
