Fisher is old reliable but he doesn't make you better. He never penetrates and his defense has slipped. And without a reliable post presence he won't consistently hit open shots.

You win by collapsing the defense through penetration or having a bigman do it by getting easy buckets not by station to staton basketball that the Triangle seems to feature.

Francis at least penetrates and beats his man off the dribble consistently, and Critt does the same things.

Time to give the pg job to one of the 1st rders and stop this bs hand holding.

Fisher would be better on a team with a good big in the middle.

Give the job to Farmar or Critt who's gonna take it anyway.

I agree. We could definitely use Fisher's experience in pressure situations. He's still good for about 20-25 minutes a game. Ive always been a big fan of Fish, he played hard, kept his mouth shut and just do what the teams asks him to do. Coming from the Smush Parker era, this is a huge improvement for this team.


I also like the idea of Fish and Kobe in the backcourt again. They both know each other's sweet spot and Fish is an upgrade over Smush and Farmar defensively.


The only backlash is this will interfere with our younger guards progress. For one, Id really like to see Farmar and Crittenton get more playing time, but with Derek's addition, minutes will be harder to come by for either one.


My only hope, is that the Lakers are not extending their courtesy to him by signing him a ludicrous amount of money to acquire him.

agree. unless the lakers can somehow snag mo williams, there are no other guards in the market better for the lakers than derek fisher. he's been instrumental with the lakers 3 peat success. steve blake is a no no, steve francis is a bigger NO because i dont know how a point guard who relies in holding on the ball too much is gogin to help. only question with fish is his age, but other than that he should be fine when jordan farmar and javaris crittenton are having tough rookie/sophomore nights.

With a healthy Fisher and Radmanovic, we should be deadly from the outside. Ideally, after this signing goes through, we should re-sign Chris Mihm. Then, look to package Kwame Brown, Brian Cook and Sasha for something decent in return. There has to be a team out there that would love to get their hands on all those expiring contracts.
