Re: Expectations for Andrew Bynum Next Season
Id like to see him go for 10 pts, 8 boards 1.5 bpg and 48% in limited minutes.
Most important is his consistency in conditioning and maintaining his confidence.
I feel like Bynum is going to play much better, now that Chris Mihm is returning. The pressure for him to be LA's main offensive threat will decrease dramatically.

Re: Expectations for Andrew Bynum Next Season
That would be fine for me, but I think he can shoot much better from the field than 48%.

Re: Expectations for Andrew Bynum Next Season
Bynum is going to continue to improve this upcoming season. I would expect something in the area of 12/8/2bpg as a reasonable outlook. Mihm is coming off a season-long stint on the injured list and isn't going to be the starter. Brown is definitely not going to start at center unless he has a tremendous training camp. The Lakers have held on to this kid for a reason, and I believe they were absolutely right to do so. When you have a young center who shows the the kind of ability that he has you have to continue to develop him and give him ample opportunity to reach his potential. The fact that he's still on this roster tells me the Lakers are committed to doing so. He may not show huge improvement this year in terms of numbers, but he definitely will be better.

Re: Expectations for Andrew Bynum Next Season
problem Bynum has is this, he's gonna have to beat out kwame and Mihm for the job and when healthy they are better players. They are tougher and play much better defense. And PJ isn't gonna stand for mental breakdowns and mental weakness on the defensive end from his center.
Bynum's offense will never become an asset for us until he starts playing good defense.
if Bynum doesn't lose that little pout and head hanging down little boy move he does when he makes a mistake or getting called for a foul I'm gonna scream.

Not really. He shot 56% last season.

I honestly doubt he'll shoot that high if he becomes a full time starter. I still think he's still young and fatigue will wear in eventually

His youth would make him less likely to fatigue I would think. If anyone is going to have issues with fatigue it's going to be Chris Mihm. Bynum should be in even better shape next season.

Re: Expectations for Andrew Bynum Next Season
I don't think that he'll be a full time starter next season, though. He was rushed into the starting job out of necessity last season, but hopefully that won't be the case this season.

Re: Expectations for Andrew Bynum Next Season
I'm not sure that he isn't the most suitable starter on this roster. When you consider Mihm's injury and year of inactivity and Brown's complete lack of consistency and effort I would think Bynum has to be the favorite going in. Just my opinion, I guess time will tell.

Re: Expectations for Andrew Bynum Next Season
I've always been a fan of the Lakers trying to move Bynum for talent, the kid COULD develop into a good player but if they would have moved him for a star the Lakers wouldn't be having Kobe problems.
I don't know how well Bynum will play next year, it's tough for me to really gauge his growth.

You're probably right. He may be the starter, but I just don't see him getting big minutes. At least, not until later in the season depending on his production. I'm hoping for a breakout year, but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Expectations for Andrew Bynum Next Season
For the Laker's sake I hope he will start... unless the Lakers can trade him to get a real inside threat. The tandem of Kwame don't-call-me-small-hands-Eldon Brown, and Chris but-my-low-post-is-15ft Mihm there isn't much to look forward to watching inside. Even a Jason Kidd type wouldn't help with that tandem. And it's not like the Nets are doing much in the East with Kidd and Carter, or in 2002 when Kidd was 5 years younger.
I see AB as young Robert Parish without the benefit of a college career. He needs to get tougher, rebound stronger, and and foul harder. After his good start last year he almost seemed afraid of picking up fouls and played tentative. And most of his fouls were touch fouls. Someone needs to tell to make sure the guy feels the foul enough to think about it next time. A little Zo in his demeaner would go a long way.
...hopefully at least 10-8-2.
