There would be a good chance we don't even make the playoffs, since without Shaq we would struggle big time..

im not joking, so listen up.

shaq at this point is still better than odom. if you're going to argue that then you're a fool. the impact that the big fella brings is still undeniable. he's still a very capable 17 and 10 player with a very high fg efficiency.

and dont even bring injuries here, because lamar is no iron man. he has been missing a lot of games for you guys the past 3 yrs.

truth here is that shaq has been noted as in the best shape of his life since he signed that contract in miami. i believe he's still a go for two more seasons.

and also about your remark with the lakers missing the playoffs because if shaq gets injured, well welocome to yesterdays news. i mean the lakers are losing games even when luke walton was injured. i think thats just a testament that odom's value is not that huge to begin with.

well the point there was that, shaq though old is still on par with a younger jermaine production wise. and indiana wants two of la's assets for jo. with shaq, miami i believe is only going to ask for odom which makes it an even better deal because la would be able to keep another possible great big man in bynum.

so in that effect the odom for shaq deal is a great trade.

Yeah... during that time Walton was out and Odom was in, we had alot more injuries elsewhere as well, not just Walton.

Making a trade for Shaq would basically give us a 2 year span to do anything, and there is no way we'd even make the WCF. So esentially we're trading a younger player for a old man that will be retiring in a year or two. I don't see the point in that. We'd maybe get one or two more wins, and still probably beat in the first round, if not second round for sure.

Shaq missed more then half a season last year, and the year before played in only 59 games, while Odom has missed 28 games the past two years. That's quite a difference.

Shaq: 17.3 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 2.0 Ast, 59% from field, 42% FT shooter last year.
Odom: 15.9 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 4.8 Ast, 47% from field, 70% FT shooter last year.

I see no upside in this deal at all. Shaq is due to have even worse numbers next year as he's been decreasing now the past few years.

We'd be getting an older player for a younger player, that pretty much sums it up... also to add fuel to the fire with Shaq's bad relationship with the Lakers front office.

Memo to yourself:

Shaq is old and has been declining consistently
Shaq is still owed at least$60 million dollars

Aslo the Lakers are already in salary cap hell as it is, with younger and much more tradeable assets, but now we're acquiring a pre historic player who most likely will be more of a liability to this squad than a key contributor.

Our opponest will have a field day applying the hack-a-Shaq and pick and roll strategy on Shaq.
