Ariza showing his worth already

I don't care if the guy is 1 fr 3 night in and night out, in fact I hope he doesn't try to shoot too much and just waits for easy dunks. It's great the team finally has a good wing defender outside of Kobe. The team has more than enough offensive weapons, they are just prone to being stupid with shooting only jumpers when they drive to the basket or pass the ball down int the post. Seeing Ariza on AI reminded me of Pippen guarding PGs in the 90's. He's like Kobe in that he can guard anyone 1 - 3 very well. Offensively he's lacking but I'd prefer him to focus on defense anyways.

good job mitch for your first good trade

If we can teach Kwame to catch a ball and have Bynum avoid stupid fouls we'll be set to do damage in the playoffs

I like what I'm hearing. I missed the last few games Ariza was in because of school but sounds like he is a great defender. Something I agree with, this team needed desperately. If he can make a few buckets here and there, that's fine with me. As long as he plays the defense.

I can live with Kwames horrible offense, depending on the rotations. His defense is missed, something even I the biggest Kwame hater, will admit. Although It's not because I think Bynum is a poor defender, more as I think Mihm is a poor defender. When Mihm comes out, I get scared. At least with Kwame, you know he will play some good defense even if he can't score to save his life.

If Bynum ever gets equal treatment, those fouls will go down. Even verse the Magic, Howard was doing everything short a piggy back ride, and not getting called for the fouls towards the end. Bynum reaches for the ball and hits the hand, and stil gets a call by the ref on the other side of the court. No respect, but it's going to change soon.

Re: Ariza showing his worth already

Ariza has played very well for whats expected of him. It is nice to see a player with a true defensive mind set.

I LOVE the fact that he doesnt try yo force anything on offense. We dont need him to. He will get some nice easy shots or dunks and that is fine for now.

Re: Ariza showing his worth already

Much better fit than Mo, IMO. Mo's talent wasn't the problem, it was his IQ. The guy was a chucker with a shaky jumper. No passing ability whatsoever. And as much as his D and hustle were raved about, I thought he focused much more on the offensive end.

Ariza,
1) Plays great D, both on and off the ball. He also corrals a few good rebounds with those 8 foot arms of his.
2) Knows his role on offense. Doesn't try to do too much.

Great trade, IMO. Ariza still looks like he can improve a ton. His flaws, mainly shooting, are very correctable with hard work.

Seeing Ariza play D last night, especially in the 4th on AI, was a thing of beauty that I've been waiting for for years. Almost made me cry.

dont forget about his offensive rebounding. he's like the only dude that actually goes for the offensive board on this laker squad. true hustle player.
