Re: Would you do this trade?
yeah that looks like a good deal for the grizz.. they can probably trade lamar for someone whose contract is expiring this year too. something like jason williams and ricky davis and a 1st rounder for LO. that'll give the grizz 1 lottery pick (from themselves) and two 1st rounders in a deep draft... they also alleviate ALL $24 million in cap space by the end of the year...
let me try to work the math, for the hell of it..
INCOMING LAKERS: Pau Gasol ($13,709,375), Brian Cardinal ($5,850,000), and Damon Stoudamire ($4,350,000)
OUTGOING LAKERS: Lamar Odom ($13,524,000), Kwame Brown ($9,075,000) & 2008 1st rounder (hm, then again, if we're giving them a first rounder, they should keep one of those dead weights.. i say damon stoudamire... this part is still iffy with me).
Why? Lakers get a proven big man in the middle who can score. Pau isn't a great 1st option type of guy, but I think he'll do fine as a #2.
INCOMING GRIZZLIES: Kwame Brown ($9,075,000), Jason Williams ($8,937,500), Ricky Davis ($6,817,500), 1st round pick from lakers, 1st round pick from heat.
OUTGOING GRIZZLIES: Pau Gasol ($13,709,375), Brian Cardinal ($5,850,000), and Damon Stoudamire ($4,350,000)
Why? Grizzlies get ALL expiring contracts, giving them more than enough money to sign a free agent (should be about 20 million at least, haven't done the math yet), plus two 1st rounders in 2008.
INCOMING HEAT: Lamar Odom ($13,524,000)
OUTGOING HEAT: Jason Williams ($8,937,500), Ricky Davis ($6,817,500), 2008 1st rounder. Ricky was acquired almost 2 months ago, so he will be eligible for trade pretty soon... like 11 days from now soon.
Why? Because Lamar Odom > Jason Williams + Ricky Davis... easily. Only problem is that Miami wouldn't have a PG.
OR this.. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/feature...7~29&te=&cash=
memphis gets two 1st rounders..
yeah, i'd do this trade i think.. but if we're taking two bad contracts, i dont want to give the grizzlies a 1st rounder. maybe we can throw sasha miami's way so they can fill their point guard role, and we can free up some space

Do it Mitch! Perhaps the possibility of playing with his younger brother can convince Pau to push for this trade

Re: Would you do this trade?
i like the wizards option better for us.. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/feature...7~29&te=&cash= (memphis receives a first rounder from lakers and wizards, and possibly cash considerations)
we only get 1 bad contract, pau gasol, and give away a 2008 1st rounder. does washington think lamar is better than antawn jamison though, and is he worth taking damon's bad contract + giving away the 2008 first rounder. also, is memphis going to want to take expiring contracts and 2 first rounders for pau? (i'm assuming no, but then again we all know pau's situation isn't getting any better, plus the lakers have the rights to getting his bro.. he could possibly demand out).

Re: Would you do this trade?
i doubt the wizard trade antawn unless they feel insecure about locking him up
with arenas out, he's their go to guy and he's been doing excellent
on the other hand... odom sucks.
i do like the three way deal with the heat. makes alot of sense.

Re: Would you do this trade?
i think lamar is a better fit for the wizards in the long run... caron and gilbert are two offensive minded players and all.
and if we do the 3 way with the heat, i'd send sasha to miami if they need a PG. hell, it saves us some money.

Re: Would you do this trade?
Nice posts afob. Give me the Heat deal any day of the week. As you said, buy out Stoudamire. Gasol with the core intact would be enough for serious WCF contention. After a season or two of seasoning for the youngsters, we could begin talking championship. I wonder what rawse and the bunch think about this. Post it over at the Grizzlies forum.

Funny, because I think afob's response was laced with sarcasm. Or maybe you are being sarcastic about the fact he really did pick up on your sarcasm, but you're pretending that he did not sense the sarcasm. That's pretty sarcastic in itself.
