Would you do this trade?
Indiana-LA trade scenario.
LA trades Kwame (expiring) Lamar Odom, Jordan Farmar and a 1st rd pick
for
Jermaine O'Neal and Tinsley.
With Tinsley's recent involvment on a shooting incident, rumors has it from some Indiana fans that Bird is thinking of listening to offers for a trade. From what they were syaing, Bird just absolutely hates dealing with players and their off court baggage(s), he doesnt mind losing in a trade, just to dispose of such kind in his team. History has him trading Artest and Stephen Jackson for a lesser value.
I think, if they were to trade Tinsley, they might as well package Jermaine O'Neal. Some fans are simply tired of Jermaine O'Neal's inconsistent production and disappering act. Most are ready for a change of scenery, and would welcome this by adding cap relief and youth (And we do have both). This idea was proposed by a random fans and it struck me because it is actually intriguing.
Doing this deal IMO, of course can only produce two results. It can either make us better or worse. It may disrupt whatever chemisty our team already has( I dont want to judge both Tinsley and O'Neal, but from my understanding, they are not locker room guy material, so correct me if im wrong). Or both could simply become the answer for Kobe's plead for a veteran/talent help. All this and LA can still keep Bynum in the process. In a perfect world, that makes a lot of sense. Proabably not enough, but at least no one can say LA did not put any effort to give Kobe some help before his opt out year.
Its a risk either way, so question still stands. Would you agree on this trade?
FYI: It worked on ESPN's trade machine. Salary wise.

Re: Would you do this trade?
i think jermaine's lost some of his will to play. he's not inspired.
jermaine doesn't seem that bad, why would you say that? tinsley, yeah, i can understand.. but not JO. i'd do it, even though i'd hate to see farmar go.

Re: Would you do this trade?
if you were to ignore Oneals and Tinsleys personalities and off the court problems
this would be a steal for the Lakers, id rather them involve Sasha than Farmar though
Lamar Odom sucks and Kwame Brown is well...Kwame Brown

Re: Would you do this trade?
naw, i would hold tight and see if gasol becomes avaliable later on. i mean dealing with bird makes this a pain in the ***. the man asked for bynum and odom in the same ****ing deal for j oneal, why would he want to back down from that offer? yes, o'neals having one of the worse season of his career and tinsley has that shooting incident but bird is going to stick it up to us and insist that 1) o'neal will come back to his all-star form 2) despite tinsley's off court problem, he's having a career year.
now do i think this trade makes sense? yes. odom's less than stellar play this season has convinced me that this trade is fair enough. There is no way odom is going to thrive in laker land without being the 1st option.
i love farmar's game but realistically how good is he going to be? no way he's going to be the next chris paul or deron williams so i think some of us (including me) need to put our homer love aside and not let farmar be the deal breaker.
just a thought, wouldnt it be ****ing amazing to trade kwame to the pacers and see him turn his career around just like joneal did couple years ago?

Re: Would you do this trade?
I think the fact that we are taking on Tinsley's contract and poor off the court judgement should allow us to withhold Farmar in the trade offer. Lamar, Kwame, Sasha, 1st round pick(2008 and possibly 2010) for O'Neal and Tinsley. Begin to groom Crittenton as a SG.

Re: Would you do this trade?
why would we do this trade? i think LO is not a Consistent scorer but he is a consistant player, rebounds, assist. If we think JO will be a defensive stopper, than we are in big trouble. there are gong to be way better players available than JO,

Re: Would you do this trade?
I would rather not take on Tinsley, frankly, since for one he's not that good and two, he doesn't really add much of anything important as a pure PG, being as how he is a ball dominating guard with poor decision making skills at times. I would just do a straight Odom for Jermaine trade and add in whatever filler necessary to make that work, i.e. Sasha, Radman, or Luke or what have you. Would rather not give up Java or Farmar, either, but that might be tough. Though JO is unhappy there it has seemed, and doesn't seem to fit within O'Brien's system, so that's a card the Lakers FO can successfully play.

Re: Would you do this trade?
If it were JO for Odom, probably yes.
Since Tinsley and Farmer are involved, no way.

Re: Would you do this trade?
I wouldn't trade Lamar for JO because he misses so many games. I would certainly, however, trade him for Pau Gasol.
Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown for Pau Gasol, Brian Cardinal and Damon Stoudamire.
We take two crappy contracts off their hands, giving him $10M more in cap room to work with over the summer. In return, we get a bonafide second option who can score 18-20 points on a consistent basis. To have Kobe, Pau and Bynum on the same team, I'd be willing to give up a future first round pick in the deal as well.
We would likely then buy out Stoudamire, leaving us with a lineup of...
PG: Derek Fisher...Jordan Farmar...Javaris Crittenton
SG: Kobe Bryant...Sasha Vujacic...Coby Karl
SF: Vladimir Radmanovic...Luke Walton...Trevor Ariza
PF: Pau Gasol...Ronny Turiaf...Brian Cardinal
C: Andrew Bynum...Chris Mihm
After this season, Memphis would have another top 5 pick, and their only players under contract would be Kyle Lowry, Mike Conley Jr., Juan Carlos Navarro, Mike Miller, Rudy Gay, Hakim Warrick, Lamar Odom and Darko Milicic. That leaves $10+M in cap room to make a run at players in a likely amazing Free Agent class.
