I think we're talking about two different injuries and two very different athletes of different ages here...Maybe he will return to his old form, but I honestly don't think there's a very good chance of that.

It all depends on how the individual heals from the injury. Some people can suffer devastating knee injuries and regain nearly 100% of their prior abilities, while others simply may not. Mihm also has a problem with his heel, which if you have had a similar injury you would know is extremely painful and can be a tremendous hinderance. I've had plantar fasciitis and a bone spur in my heel, which I can tell you is no picnic. For a time it was difficult just to put pressure on my heel, let alone play basketball on it. It feels much better now, but it's not nearly as good as it was before the injury.

I wonder if he even plays before the end of the season. Not that I'm overly concerned about this considering the level of play he's demonstrated when he did play, but anyway just thought I'd post this, since I saw discussions about his return during the road trip...

I think your user name sums up Chris Mihm pretty well. I'm not the least bit surprised. Some guys just aren't durable.

Re: Mihm not coming back so soon after all
Glass.
crazy how he went from our third best player to, well, nothing really. I remember when he sprained his ankle against seattle, and they said he might be back by the end of the season. yet here we are, two years later, and he still, for all intents and purposes, hasn't "come back". these nagging injuries will never leave him. sad really. dude had a lot of talent.

Plastic Man was Stacey Augmons nickname BECAUSE he was so durable. Plastic is hard to break.

Mihm often breaks down and gets brought back, only to break down again, much like the way plastic is recycled. BTW, I thought Augmon was called that because he was long, wiry, and thin?

Yeah, he supposedly had a resemblance to the DC Comics character Plastic Man, although I have to say I've never seen the latter . And he played 1001 games in his 15 year career (67 games on average), so I'm guessing Mihm has a long way to go if he wants to reach those numbers. Although I never knew he was so injury prone before the last season (he did start in 75 games for us in his first year :/). Mr. Glass would probably be the more suited nickname for the guy.
Actually, I feel bad for the guy and the Lakers having another big body with 6 fouls to give also wouldn't be too bad. I mean when Bynum comes back, the frontline will be:
PF - Gasol / (Radman?) / Turiaf
C - Bynum / Mbenga
I know that Gasol will probably also spend some time at the C, but having Mihm back wouldn't hurt.
I hope he manages to recover in a reasonable time and make something of himself. Otherwise the Lakers should just cut him, what's the use of paying a guy who doesn't play at all (can he even be cut? I don't know anything about the contracts, save for Luke's one )?
