Re: Mihm not coming back so soon after all
Well, he COULD be a big piece. He hasnt been releveant for a year plus now.
If he recovers fully, and can play at the level he was 2 years ago, great. He will be a great backup. But the truth is he probably wont recover to that level for at least a couple years and maybe never. On top of that, we dont really need him. Ronny is a good backup and now we can slide Pau to the 5 and Ronny to the 4 if need be.
I hope he gets better but it seems unlikely.

A frontline of Odom/Radman at the 3, Gasol/Turiaf at the 4, and Bynum/Mihm at the 5 is a great mix of shot blocking, defense, shooting, and post scoring. No team wants to face that in the postseason. That starting frontcourt is 6'10" and or taller, too, with the backups being 6'9", 6'8", and 7'0".
Mihm is an important piece, whether people here want to believe it or not, it's true. I hope he can revitalize his career with the Lakers. He has a player option this summer, so he'll definitely be here in 08-09.

I don't think anyone doubts how effective Mihm is when he plays. He's a decent starting C and an excellent backup. He just never plays. He's always hurt and I don't think anyone takes him seriously anymore because you can't count on a player that spends more than half the season on IR. I just wish we could have kept Gasol. He was a project but looked to have some talent.

That's when he is healthy though. He wouldn't contribute that much now, even if he was just coming back.
I'd rather have him though instead of Mbenga.

Re: Mihm not coming back so soon after all
Yeah, I see what you guys are saying, Mihm can't stay healthy and of course that greatly diminishes his value to the Lakers. But as Eternal aptly pointed out, I'd rather have Mihm as the primary backup than Mbenga. If he can ever get healthy is another story.

I don't think it's going to matter though when Bynum comes back. Turiaf will be getting w/e minutes Bynum/Gasol aren't playing, and we will see Gasol at the center position as well when Bynum isn't in the game.

I would too, if he's healthy. That of course is the caveat, he never seems to be.
