when do you NOT pursue pau gasol for kwame, java, and picks? that's a joke.
remember last year when he offered the kawme for camby? that's a joke too.

How is kwame for camby a joke but Critt and Kwame for Gasol is not?
If one thing this Gasol trade has proven is that there is never a certain thing as a bad offer.

yeah, when a deal like this presents itself, even if the entire team is healthy it'd be pretty stupid not to take it.

i dont even know where to begin..
1) nuggets are our conference competitor, grizzlies are not
2) camby never asked to be traded, gasol did (last year, too)
3) kwame for camby straight up is seriously a joke. they don't even get any talent or young prospects
4) camby isn't even overpaid. if anything, he's underpaid
5) nuggets weren't looking to dump salary
6) everyone says the gasol trade was a bonehead move by memphis, but people look at paper too much. if the trade benefits both teams... then it's not quite a bonehead move.
the only other team in serious talks for gasol, as far as we know, were the bulls. and it's reported that they did not cave in anything the grizzlies wanted. so how is it bone headed if that's the best memphis could get?

Regardless of how you justify it Gasol for Kwame and Critt was bonehead. Kwame for Camby is bonehead. Maybe the Nuggets were looking to dump salary the same way the Suns did with Kurt Thomas. Maybe they would of just asked the Lakers to sweaten the pot with Critt.
I will never fault Mitch for throwing out bonehead offers anymore. What do we lose? The other team says no?

Re: Bynum's injury turns out to be a blessing
so it's boneheaded because you say it is? ahh, nice. both teams won out of that trade. it's not boneheaded. if there was a better alternative, and the grizzlies didn't pursue it, then yeah.. it was boneheaded. but there is no evidence of that.
and have you paid attention to the nuggets and their history of bad contracts? why would they want to dump salaries anyways, they're over the cap either way. and camby is a GOOD contract, not a bad one. why would you want to dump a good contract? that's like trading kobe for expirings.

No, it's bonehead because 99% of the basketball watching population thinks it is.
It's fine to have a differing opinion, but realize you are in the minority.

It was a boneheaded trade by the Grizzlies. There have been quite a few complaints btw, on GMs complaining that they had better offers, and the Grizzlies declined them at the time. You have your own opinion though on what is boneheaded and what is not in the deal, which is fine.
There isn't exactly evidence... that there was better deals... unless you take into account the complaints by tons of GMs, but if you read between the lines I'm sure you can come to a conclusion there was better deals out there. The GM just made a bad move and he knows it, especially when you have to write out a report and point out all the details on why it was a good trade to defend himself.

Re: Bynum's injury turns out to be a blessing
which gms were these? i haven't seen any of those articles. i've only seen mention of the bull not wanting to part with their core for gasol, because he's too soft or something like that.

They weren't giving specific names, as most GMs do not want their names to be given in these types of situations.

On most of the articles that I read coming from where they were talking about better offers they would just say a Eastern Conference or Western Conference GM said blah blah... etc.
