Bynum Runs on Treadmill
LOS ANGELES -- Lakers center Andrew Bynum ran on a treadmill Tuesday for the first time since injuring his left knee two months ago.
Bynum temporarily dislocated his kneecap and sustained a bone bruise early in the third quarter of a 100-99 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Jan. 13 when he landed on teammate Lamar Odom's left foot while going for a rebound.
"He's coming along well. He's progressing," coach Phil Jackson said before Tuesday night's game against the Toronto Raptors. "It's not as fast as he'd like to, but we're looking at the big picture here.
"We know that he makes a big difference in our team, but ultimately the organization feels we don't have to rush him into anything and jeopardize the situation."
Lakers spokesman John Black said no timetable has been set for Bynum's return, adding: "We set a minimum of eight weeks. We didn't set a maximum."

Yeah this was posted in the Bynum thread, it needs it's own thread.

Re: Bynum Runs on Treadmill
Hopefully sooner rather than later. This layup line game after game on the defensive end of the floor is getting ridiculous.

Re: Bynum Runs on Treadmill
Good news, but more and more, I'm getting a bad feeling that he might not be back this season. I can only hope I'm wrong.

I'm getting the same feeling Basel is. Doesn't seem good... but at least we get some encouraging news.

Re: Bynum Runs on Treadmill
About 5 weeks till the playoffs start. If he can do treads now, I have no reason to believe he wont be back this season, injuries like his, players normally do full sprints in a month. I said earlier that LA may take precautionary measures and may even delay his return until the second round, which is fine. I think this team is good enough to win the first series as-is.

Re: Bynum Runs on Treadmill
We'll know a lot more about how he has progressed in the next 2-4 days. By that point, if there continues to be no pain and/or swelling, he'll be able to get 5-10 games in before the postseason. Not ideal, but better than the alternative.
Those saying he won't play the rest of the season; not possible unless something goes seriously wrong after his run on the treadmill. As in major swelling and pain.

Re: Bynum Runs on Treadmill
Bynum shooting and dunking today in practice according to Jackson: http://www.nba.com/lakers/multimedia/0708video.html. See 9 minute mark. FYI, he has been shooting on the court for well over a week now (see ABC's coverage of the Mavs game from two Sundays ago).
All signs point to him being back somewhat well before the regular season ends.

Re: Bynum Runs on Treadmill
Yeah, EHL posted that already. Definitely good to hear; I really hope I'm wrong and he'll at least be back by the beginning of April.
