Trade Bynum for Marion?
i dunno just food for thought, i saw this on J.A. Adande chat on ESPN, actually i wasnt sure if the question was from the Danny on this thread.
Danny Tulare, CA: If the Lakers were to win or even make the NBA finals without Andrew Bynum. Would it make sense to trade him for say a Shawn Marion. I feel Lamar is better suited to play the four spot and with Andrew back; Lamar would creat spacing issues because he is not an outside shooter. Andrew is still a few years from realizing his full potential and getting Marion in his prime would make a scary line up for opponets: PG Fisher SG-Bryant SF-Marion PF-Odom C- Gasol
J.A. Adande: That would be a good move because Marion would help the defense and he showed in Phoenix he could be effective surviving on the scraps leftover from the other players and not having his number called. And in the triangle offense he'd get more touches.
i dont know, if the heat were willing to do this trade, i would probably pull the trigger

Re: Trade Bynum for Marion?
I dislike Marion with a passion, but I think that objectivelly speaking trading a 30 something year old player who wants to be the team's primadonna for a 20 year old center who looks like the future franchise player would be absolute madness in my opinion.
And I'd much rather see Gasol moved to his natural, PF position and have Bynum control the paint. Plus if all turns out well, we already have an exceptional defensive wing in the making.
To put it short: No way in hell.

Re: Trade Bynum for Marion?
That would be a horrible deal. Miami would jump on it, but not LA.
You don't trade someone with the kinda potential he has for Marion. And with him back next yr, and putting him at 5, and sliding Gasol to 4, Lakers will be even better than they are now. And to me, Odom's better suited at the 3. And in the case that they didn't fit (probably unlikely), it makes more sense to trade Odom for him.

No thanks.

Re: Trade Bynum for Marion?
I wouldn't consider it if I was LA. Unless theres more concern by the team physicians about his knee still..

More proof that Adande is an idiot even if it wasn't his idea. These sportswriters are truly casual fans who get free tickets. Bynum for Marion. Unbelievable...

Re: Trade Bynum for Marion?
Dude, all we need out of Bynum is a double double and some anchoring D. He comes back and gives us that and the rest of the league better watch out.

Well, hindsight, that deal raped Miami and turned us into a contender for years to come... =)
The deal in which we got the shorter end of the stick was with Washington.

I root for the Lakers' opponent almost every game. PLEASE trade Bynum for Marion, if the opportunity arises!!! What madness!
