Well it's been two straight years that Pau has disappeared in the playoffs...
and I'm pretty much done with the guy. He doesn't work well with Bynum and if he's going to regress like this every year from now on we should try and flip him while we can. I would love to get a stretch 4 and an athletic 3 for him, who do you guys think would be interested in him?

Re: Well it's been two straight years that Pau has disappeared in the playoffs...
To be fair, he did have a much better post season this year than last year, so he didn't necessarily regress despite being the 3rd option. That said, I can't see any scenario where Pau is back on this team next season. I love what he did for us throughout the last five years (three Finals appearances, two championships) but he's not fit to be a 3rd option and we can't make Bynum the 3rd option. One has to go, and you know Jim Buss isn't getting rid of Bynum.
There have been rumors that the Lakers want Deron Williams (everyone has heard these I'm sure - if not, you've been living under a rock) and that it would require a 3-team deal for us to get him and move Pau. Maybe something with the Rockets since McHale wants Pau in Houston?

The Lakers should just offer Gasol to the Nets for Deron Williams and Kris Humphries.(If Deron picks up option and the Nets sign/trade Humphries) If Gasol isn't going to score I don't see what his value is on this Laker team.

The Nets have already made it clear that they would rather let Deron walk and get cap relief than to take on Pau's contract. A third team would have to be involved.

I would offer Pau for Josh Smith and put together a package of Bynum, Hill, Sessions, etc. for Deron Williams.

nah - he's not right to be a 3rd option (especially while being paid like a #1) and apparently is never going to fit well with Bynum, they've basically nurfed him and his value but I think they can still get two nickles for his dime

also we can stop thinking of Hill as a trade chip - we dont have his bird rights and so have no leverage with him though we may still retain him

A three team deal between the Wolves, Rockets and Lakers makes sense for all three teams. Lakers would get Lowry and a young power forward back (ideally Williams, maybe Patterson) while the Wolves would get Martin and the Rockets would get Gasol.
There would be other minor pieces involved, but the basic outline of the deal would give all the teams what they wanted, provided the Rockets are still interested in Gasol and are ok with not sending Scola back out.

Is it a given the Rockets are still interested in Gasol? I was under the impression that Morey had intended to follow up the Gasol trade by immediately signing Nene, which may explain why Gasol for Dragic/Scola/Martin never happened in the regular season.

I don't know if it is a given, but I think there is still a possibility that they could still Nene and Gasol instead of doing that deal I suggested.

I think we'd have to take Scola back which I dont hate if we also land Lowry - Scola could do a lot of what it appears they want Pau to do in his diminished role and though paying him for another 4 years isnt great that plus Lowry's evident discontent might just be the levers we need to get the deal done
