Steve Blake Pulls an Idiot

The Los Angeles Lakers announced Monday that point guard Steve Blake suffered a puncture wound to his left foot after stepping on a spike strip in a parking lot. According to the team, Blake will be prohibited from participating in any impact exercises for approximately three weeks.
The backup point guard is entering his third season with the team, but hasn't performed to expectations upon being signed. Last season, Blake averaged 5.2 ppg, 3.3 assists and 33.5 percent from 3-point range in just over 23 minutes per game. He also missed 13 games with a rib injury. His production, however, did pick up a bit during the playoffs, highlighted by a 19 point performance in the decisive Game 7 of the opening round series against the Denver Nuggets.
For his career, the nine-year veteran has averaged 6.9 points, 3.9 assists and 38.7 percent shooting from behind the arc.
With Blake sidelined, Chris Duhon, who arrived as part of August's four-team blockbuster for center Dwight Howard, and second year player Darius Morris, will serve as the candidates for backup minutes behind new Laker and two-time MVP Steve Nash.
