Kahn is stupid as shit, but even he would pass on that. Just because Rubio and Pau want to be together doesn't mean Minny'll let themselves get fleeced to make it happen.

And whose pick is that going to ATL?
Pau would make literally every player on that roster better. I fail to see how Williams would ever have much of a role on that team. Really they are just vastly upgrading their center position to keep their two franchise players happy and unlikely to bolt the second worst NBA city in the league.

Re: Next Trade Rumor: Pau for Ryan Anderson

If I'm not mistaken, Love isn't a FA until 2016. Think Pau would still be productive, or even there, by then? Pekovic is good, and a great compliment to Love. They might make the playoffs as is, and know they're not getting much farther than that. It's not like anyone is foolish enough to believe Pau puts them ahead of the LA's, SA, MEM, or OKC.

Sure, Love could request a trade. But how is he going to force their hand?

Pau Gasol Could Be Traded For Ryan Anderson

Quote:
It's becoming all too clear that Pau Gasol does not fit into the Los Angeles Lakers D'Antoni offensive system, and the organization is trying to figure out what to do about it.

It's being reported by Lakers Nation that a source close with management has confirmed there is a “legitimate” interest in Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Hornets. The source said:

“The interest is coming from the Lakers, not New Orleans. Mitch (Kupchak) would prefer to keep Pau, as would Kobe. Jim (Buss) would prefer to continue cleaning house, and bring in players able to fit a more fast-paced style of play. Kupchak was clear about these facts 1.) No deal was imminent. 2.) Any proposed deal for Anderson would likely require a third team. 3.) Naturally, Gasol was generating a lot of interest from around the league, but reinforced that nothing was imminent.”

It isn't that Pau has lost his touch, he's just lost completely in this system. He fares best as the big man on the court, not at the four. However, if he can work harder and find his place, we have seen flashes of the magic that worked with him and Steve Nash on the floor together.

If Pau doesn't go to New Orleans, there are plenty of players that could be traded, but that still doesn't solve the problem of Pau not finding his place in this system.

The good and bad news is that this isn't imminent, so Pau can continue to grow and hopefully fall into line, but that's also bad since history has shown how adversely trade rumors affect him.

Almost want this trade to happen so I can launch my "I TOLD YOU SO" float in the general forum parade.

Everything I've read from insiders and writers on twitter indicates to me NO will be the one to turn this deal down, contrary to what many have said on here.

Lakers F Pau Gasol out Tuesday

HOUSTON -- Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol will not play Tuesday against the Houston Rockets because of tendinitis in both knees.

"The biggest thing with him was that he was playing hurt and in this league you just can't do that," Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni said. "I just didn't think he was running fluidly."

SportsNation: Are The Lakers In Trouble?

The Lakers aren't looking like the championship threat they were predicted to be. How much trouble are they in?
Cast your vote!
D'Antoni said Gasol made the decision to rest after consulting with the coaching and training staff. There is no set timetable for how long Gasol will sit out. Antawn Jamison will start in his place.

"We got to get him healthy," D'Antoni said. "Whatever it takes -- one game, two games, 10 games -- I don't know. It's day to day but he's got to be healthy. It wasn't fair (to him). He's trying to battle through some stuff and in this league, you just can't do that."

Gasol is sitting not because a trade involving the former four-time All-Star is in the works, according to multiple league sources. However, a source told ESPNLosAngeles.com that Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak has recently spoken to Gasol's representatives and the gist of the conversation was that if Gasol is unable to adjust to D'Antoni's system, the team will have no choice but to search for possible trade scenarios.

Their game against the Rockets is the start of a particularly tough stretch for the Lakers -- eight of their next 10 are on the road. L.A. is 1-4 away from Staples Center this sason.

The Lakers called up rookie big man Robert Sacre from the Los Angeles D-Fenders, their D-League affiliate, Monday as big-man insurance for their bench. Forward Jordan Hill, who was a DNP-CD in the Lakers' last game, could also find minutes in the rotation.

"Somebody's woe is somebody's gain and they got to take advantage of it," D'Antoni said.

Following Sunday's loss to the Orlando Magic, Kobe Bryant was critical of Gasol, who has questioned his role in the Lakers' offense. Gasol watched the final minutes of the fourth quarter from the bench Sunday.

"Put your big-boy pants on," Bryant said after the loss dropped the team's record to 8-9. "Just adjust. Just adjust. You can't whine about it. You can't complain about it."

Gasol was subbed out with 6:07 remaining in the fourth quarter and the Lakers up 84-83. Orlando outscored L.A. 30-19 the rest of the way. Gasol ended his night with 11 points on 4-for-11 shooting, seven rebounds, two assists and a block in 29 minutes.

Bryant said he could relate to Gasol's struggles, telling reporters after Tuesday's shootaround that he had to make a similar decision to sit out late last season when tenosynovitis in his left shin caused him to miss seven games.
"We talked about it a little bit," Bryant said. "It's difficult for him, obviously, because he doesn't have the explosiveness that he had, so a lot of it I'm assuming has to do with his being injured physically and not being able to get up and down the court and perform at a high level, which could lead to some frustration. I dealt with it with the shin. You're kind of out there playing around and playing and you kind of wind up being a little bit of a shell of yourself because of your physical limitations."

Added Dwight Howard: "You always want to try to play and give a great effort every night and do the best you can, but sometimes you get scrutinized when you don't perform as well as everybody wants you to. Sometimes they may not realize that we may be injured. People expect ... when we get on the floor to be 100 percent every night. I think it's a tough situation for Pau, but he has to realize we all got his back."

Gasol, a 12-year veteran, is averaging 12.6 points and 42 percent shooting, both career lows, and 8.8 rebounds per game.

"I hope I can be back soon!" Gasol said on Twitter.

Man we are becoming a joke never in my wildest dreams did I believe we would deconstruct our roster to give Dantoni the ability to implement a system thats never won a damn thing. Wew're gonna jettsone a championship caliber player for a spare part to make things smoother for Dantoni.

I am watching a real shift to irrelevancy by my dear Lakers. lol

Very true.

Coach MUST adjust to the team. And NOT the other way around.
Gasol is a 2-time World Champion and still fit to go for a couple of years. Dantoni must deal with that!

Re: Next Trade Rumor: Pau for Ryan Anderson

Completely bogus. The Lakers won't be taking back any contracts beyond two years. They want the payroll clean except for Howard in two years. The money doesn't work anyways.

It will be for multiple players that add up and probably one with an expiring deal. Doesn't matter the position or talent as long as they play up front.

Re: Next Trade Rumor: Pau for Ryan Anderson

That's actually a very nice deal for the Lakers.

Bargs brings Pau's offense, or could even be a step up in that category since hes been struggling, and Calderon gives you a very nice point guard considering the D league talent at the position outside of Nash.

You do take a sizable step back on D with this move though.

Hell of a lot better than Anderson anyways.

I think Barganani is on a much better level than Anderson defensively.

I wouldn't be outraged if that trade happened.

Almost everyone in the league is on a much better level than Ryan Anderson defensively.

I called that at the start of last week, it's the only two-team trade scenario that makes sense at this point. There are a couple of three-or-more team trades that could be worked out, and I think it's actually a bad move for Toronto long-term, but it's the most likely scenario.

Re: Next Trade Rumor: Pau for Ryan Anderson

btw:

Quote:
"...Nash signed with the Lakers on the condition the team wouldn't trade Gasol, so it would probably behoove GM Mitch Kupchak to keep the team's core intact. Gasol has looked out of place this season alongside Dwight Howard, averaging a career-low 12.6 points per game on 42 percent shooting. Gasol would almost certainly benefit from a change of scenery, but management would probably want to see if his performance picks up with Nash in the lineup before considering reneging on their promise to Nash.(Rotowire.com)
