The Lakers constantly were falling behind early against Portland and San Antonio. The entire team was mired in a horrible shooting slump. Against San Antonio Kobe Bryant heroics in the fourth quarter saved that series. Despite all of that they won!

Again Sacramento in game 1 Kobe Bryant was continuing his strong showing but then came the cheese burger incident.

Kobe lost weight

Kobe was hooked up to IV's

Kobe lost strength

Kobe's game was thrown off

the entire team suffered through a dismal shooting slump

and still they won

Sacramento on the other hand played its "A" game

Mike Bibby is a career 43% shooter

Mike averaged 13.7 points during the season

Mike had only six games in which he scored 25 points or more with 29 being his top game

obviously Mike B. was playing the best basketball of his career

The Lakers won despite not playing their game which is the inside out game. Not having a consistent outside game allowed Sacramento to collapse on Shaquille O'Neal and still Shaquille O'Neal shouldered the burden.

I'm not trying to minimize or diminish Sacramento's effort I am only trying to make the point that the Lakers played poorly in their entire playoff run whereas Sacramento played their best.

The Lakers played Ok in the Portland series, pretty well in the Spurs series, but they played pretty damn well in the Sacramento series. And they wiped the floor with the Nets. No matter how the Lakers play, they still have the ability to beat any team. With the exception of the Bulls.
