Re: great news: mavs might get kidd
Mavs: Kidd, Terry, Howard, Nowitzki
Suns: Nash, Barbosa, Amare, Shaq
Lakers: Kobe, Odom, Gasol, Bynum
Wow...these teams are stacked.
This definitely makes Dallas worse long-term, though...which is excellent!

Re: great news: mavs might get kidd
I'm still more worried about the Spurs and Hornets in the playoffs compared to Suns/Mavs

Re: great news: mavs might get kidd
This trade actually makes me happy, they lose their bench scoring and size in the trade plus getting older with less natural scoring ability with Jkidd there.

Re: great news: mavs might get kidd
Although they gave up a lot, this is still a good trade for the Mavs. Losing Diop and Stackhouse is going to hurt them, no doubt. But, they still have a fairly solid bench even after this deal:
J.J. Barea, Eddie Jones, Brandon Bass, Malik Allen, Trenton Hassell, Juwan Howard...Those guys are perfectly capable reserves. The only issue they now have is at the center position, where they'll be slightly undersized. This is a great short-term move for Dallas.

Yeah I do too. It's making the top 3 teams IMO worse. Suns and Mavericks just made both of their teams have a small window of opportunity to win it all, and I don't believe either of the trade made them better, but did make them worse.

Re: great news: mavs might get kidd
It really seems like all these teams have finally decided "its now or never." Its like they know we will have the best team in the future for years so they have to win it now while they still have their ageing allstars.
Any time an already good team brings in a player of Kidd's caliber, it scares me a little. Just like the Shaq trade still has me concerned about the new look suns.

Re: great news: mavs might get kidd
Not concerned. We easily have best acquisition of the big three and gave up by far the least. The other two just closed their window quicker too. I suppose Kidd will be guarding Kobe now? We'll see how much energy he has to operate by the end of the game with that task.

Re: great news: mavs might get kidd
IMO its a good trade for the Mavs, and makes the West that much more difficult to get through.
Gotta love the Western Conference Arms Race.

no, you're wrong. we had to give up kwame. that guy has been on a tear since we traded him, shooting 100% from the field. he can't even miss.

Re: great news: mavs might get kidd
You don't add Jason Kidd to a team with Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard and get worse. BTW: Talk (and I stress talk) is that Jersey will buy out Stackhouse and he will subsequently re-sign with Dallas.
