Yao Ming Out For Season
Quote:
Yao Ming's season reportedly is over.
KRIV-TV in Houston and The Houston Chronicle are reporting that Yao has a stress fracture in his left foot and the Rockets are expected to announce he will have season-ending surgery later Tuesday.
The team has scheduled an afternoon news conference.
Houston, currently on a 12-game winning streak, is in fourth place in the Southwest Division. The streak followed a loss in the one game that Yao has missed all season.
The 7-foot-6 Yao is averaging 22.0 points and 10.8 rebounds in 55 games this season.

I think we know how they feel. You win that many games in a row, completely turning around your season only to have it come crashing down. That really sucks for them.

Re: Yao Ming Out For Season
Gotta question for the more rational Laker fans and not the blind homers >_> Seeing as how Yao was playing for almost 3 weeks with that stress fracture and now needs surgery, how much does it worry you that a similar fate could be waiting for Kobe and that messed up pinky? I mean all it takes is one bad play and then he's forced to operate on it. It's gotta feel like you're walking a razor-edge. I mean anytime Hill or Shaq tumble to the floor, I know I kinda hold my breath wondering if they screwed themselves up, lol. So, I was just curious to what you all thought and if you agreed with him deciding to forego the surgery?
As for Houston, I feel bad for them, but I gotta say I'm probably a bit happy/relieved somewhere deep down inside, since it's no longer a Western power the Suns have to worry about.

Im honestly thinking it was purposely overblown by the Lakers management. Yes I think he needs surgery, no I really dont think that particular injury will make Kobe miss any games at all even if he gets it swiped at very hard. It's scary, but he has honestly been playing his best ball of the season after the injury.

The thing about kobe is that we know he's (a) a fast healer (or he's able to play well through injuries) and (b) he's rehabbing non-stop. he doesn't exactly have a history of injuries like Shaq, yao or hill, and he really knows how to play with them. obviously a freak play is a concern, but it always is. whenever Lamar hits the deck, I wonder if he's gonna get up. It's not something you can really worry about. As far as the decision, it was a risk, no doubt, but a risk worth taking IMO. We're playing so well, and had he have sat, we might have been battling for a 7th or 8th seed. he's shown he can play with the injury, so we'll just have to hope for the best.
