Billy Bean "aka the genius" deals Nick Swisher
Hard to explain how much he's liked in the bay, basically he replaced Eric Byrnes as the personality guy on the team for fans so now we have... um... hm... Saarloos I guess.

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland Athletics made their second major trade in three weeks, sending outfielder and fan favorite Nick Swisher to the Chicago White Sox for three minor leaguers on Thursday.

The A's -- who dealt ace Dan Haren to Arizona on Dec. 14 -- received left-hander Gio Gonzalez, right-hander Fautino De Los Santos and outfielder Ryan Sweeney.
Oakland general manager Billy Beane acknowledged last month that the A's are rebuilding and said he expects the club to take its lumps next season after the A's missed the playoffs in 2007. They reached the AL Championship Series in 2006, but Oakland (76-86) had its streak of winning seasons end at eight and went 9-17 in September.

Always nice to root for a team that "rebuilds" every 3 years like an NCAA team.

I think it is a good idea. Gio Gonzalez could end up being a #2 or #3 starter for them and I agree with Ghost. Sweeney should put up a .280/34/125 next year.

Ryan Sweeney was a big time prospect going in to last season but the guy just ended up sucking if he can pull his head out of his *** or his potential he could be better then Nick Swisher...Alot of good prospect A's got i think this could turn out to be one hell of a deal for the A's

Btw what is up with people liking Swisher so much? He is a bum imo never had a 100rbi season and has never hit about .265...Bad bad deal by the White Soxs imo Sweeney could really turn into something

Why would anyone want to be a fan of this franchise? Lame.

HE didn't do anything and the suggestion that he can come into a new team next year and hit 34 home runs seems kinda insane considering only 3 players hit 35 or more home runs in the AL all of last year.
