Re: 2012 Baseball Season Discussion Thread
It's what Tom Candiotti used to call the hard knuckler, I jokingly call it the straight ball. Wakefield used to regularly get swings and misses with it. And it worked far better than his fastball because you throw it with the same motion as the knuckler. But Dickey throws that straight ball at up to 83-84, which when contrasted with the sixty-something mph knuckler gives him that insane Pedro Martinez spread (Martinez in his heyday used to have a 20-22 mph difference between the fastball and chageup). He's been ****ing awesome.

CC Sabathia earns the win with a complete game and the YANKEES get their tenth straight win. Brilliant defensive play again from Jeter with a full dive stop of a ball hit up the middle and the flip toss to Cano for the force at second. Jeter also had two two out hits for three RBI's when they mattered most.

RA Dickey has been awesome. Here are the highlights. Check out the pitch right around the 23 second mark. Yeah, it's low 80's, but that shit is moving.
Edit: 39 seconds too. Wicked. |

I don't see that as logical, but he probably means that he's temporarily going to get an extra pitcher for the pen somehow. I guess in this case someone leaves the rotation and becomes a long man.

Re: 2012 Baseball Season Discussion Thread
I guess the Braves are going to bring up Jurrgens this weekend. Last I heard he was sucking as badly in the minors as he had in the Show.
I didn't realize they had released Livan Hernandez, but he's still a young man and I am sure he'll catch on somewhere.

Re: 2012 Baseball Season Discussion Thread
Jurrjens is actually having himself a nice start. I think he's given up a hit with very few walks or strikeouts. Not sure where his velocity is at, but it's better than anything I expected.
Jason Heyward has been hitting everything. |

Inter league play for the 2012 season has concluded and once again the American League has totally and utterly dominated the national league.

Marlins up 2-1 over the Cardinals in the 7th inning, bases loaded and two outs. Matt Holliday crushes Edward Mujica's first pitch on the ground to the right side of the infield, it's going to score two easily -- but it hits Shane Robinson, the base runner on first to end the inning. Goes down as an inning ending single, preserves the one run lead.

YANKEES dominate the Cleveland Indians tonight as Hiroki Kuroda comes up with a very sharp one run effort. Rapada a 1,2,3 eights and Garcia a 1,2,3 ninth. Shortstop Derek Jeter makes two more spectacular defensive plays. Ho hum, just another win.
