I always enjoy the way you disappear when the Yankees are losing, and return only when they're winning. I particularly enjoy it right after they get knocked out of the playoffs, and you quite literally shut up entirely until they're in first place months into the next season.

How about having these five best starters in baseball on your team up to this point in the season.

Re: 2012 Baseball Season Discussion Thread
Of course, Verlander isn't WIN METHOD, he doesn't make the list.
What I love most about WIN METHOD is... it tells you nothing about the future.

Re: 2012 Baseball Season Discussion Thread
IRRATIONAL FANBOY MODE: ESPN just posted up Vogelsong and his 22 consecutive starts of 6IP or more. And all I can think is damn you ESPN! Damn you dancing on the ashes of JV35's streak! Humbug. Damn rain delay.
Rationally... it had to end sometime. A rain delay was going to occur at some point. Some form of bad luck was going to hit EVENTUALLY. But man... Tigers fans enjoyed JV35's 60 6IP starts in a row while it lasted. It is a fun time to be a fan of the Tigers. Regardless of overall won-loss record right now we get to watch two guys who are, barring injury, going to go down as absolute all time greats. Cabrera and Verlander. Clear cut Hall of Fame superstars. I mean, yeah - Fielder is a possible HoF guy as well - but JV and Cabrera are going to be inner circle guys if they stay healthy. First ballot arguables to be in the discussion as best hitter/pitcher of all time one day (health allowing). Quite enjoyable after 15 years of misery.. or basically my entire life as a baseball fan pre-2006.

Ryan Dempster in Texas: 10 IP, 11 R, 12 K
Paul Maholm in Atlanta: 16 IP, 3 R, 13 K As long as it's close, Atlanta dodged a bullet. Didn't have to give up a major league player. |

About the best Boston has to hope for at this point is that the B-Wrecking Crew (Bogaerts, Bradley, & Brentz) arrives in 2014 to kick ass & chew bubblegum. They're tearing up AA at the moment.

Re: 2012 Baseball Season Discussion Thread
Freddie Freeman just smoked a ball past CF. Having a quiet, solid 2nd season. .283/.351/.472
Braves already 9-0 on top of Santana & the Mets in the 2nd inning. Love beating this team. |

I just don't see how the Braves can let Bourn walk. Dude will probably get an absolutely enormous deal though. Hard not to miss Uncle Ted's checkbook after experiencing corporate ownership too.

Re: 2012 Baseball Season Discussion Thread
Player A: .264/.376/.550 with 30 HR, 88 RBI, 70 R, 23 2B, 109/62 K/BB
Player B: .289/.356/.581 with 32 HR, 99 RBI, 70 R, 19 2B, 107/44 K/BB Not a whole heck of a lot separating Josh Willingham from Josh Hamilton this year. |
