Re: MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL 2012 POSTSEASON
I have to admit, this Detroit team is built for the postseason. It doubly depresses me that they have the Mariners' pitcher that I wanted Boston to chase after. Alas Theo Epstein was too smart to grab Doug Fister and instead acquired the guy with "ace starter stuff" whose never been healthy or a winning pitcher in his major league career. **** Theo.

Re: MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL 2012 POSTSEASON
I guess this means that Omar Infante is a better player than Robinson Cano

Re: MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL 2012 POSTSEASON
The Yankees batted .187 for the playoffs. How they even got past the O's is beyond me.

Re: MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL 2012 POSTSEASON
Watching the way those Tigers' pitchers are throwing I find it hard to bet against them right now.

Re: MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL 2012 POSTSEASON
A couple of notes...
1. Derek Jeter's ankle is not WIN METHOD. 2. Delmon Young made himself Cashman's primary off-season target. 2b. Delmon Young is WIN METHOD!

Re: MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL 2012 POSTSEASON
What amuses me is this: had you told the Giants going into 2007 that Barry Zito in the final two years of his massive contract, in his mid-30s, would give them 180+ innings, an ERA around 4, a 15-8 record, and some sterling throwback playoff gems they would have been ecstatic with that possible end to a massive deal. This is an ideal conclusion to that contract.
Unfortunately, the first five years of the deal were just so BAD. Mediocre at the best points. Of course, in the end: If they win the WS this year and they get 2 titles out of his time with the team - they'd probably shrug and say "**** it, it was worth it." - Revisionist history says yeah, they could have been even better without him, but championships are rare. You never know how the butterfly wings would have flapped had they never signed him. If they wind up with two World Series rings out of his time as a Giant, it was worth every penny.
