But explain to me what im missing. People are trying to summarize into 1 all god and mighty stat what a player means to a team. That mean taking everything + their position since some > then others according to this Stat and compair how many Wins they would gain or lose if this player was hurt and replace by a fictional player

Where in the definition of WAR does it say the leader has to be the MVP? The Zobrist Zobrist Zobrist thing is stupid because no one actually believes WAR is all or nothing.

Average is stupid, RBI are stupid and what WAR was designed for is stupid. HOWEVER. WAR better accurately compares player to player than stat to stat. WAR told us THIS year that Trout was much better ALL AROUND than Cabrera was solely with his bat. Trout saved multiple games with his defense and changed games with his speed. Walking the dude pretty much meant you gave up a double. Trout had a historic season, that that was NEVER been accomplished period, yet alone by a 21 year old.



You want to Compare Stats? Then Compare stats across the board not the ones that convenient for an argument. The Triple Crown is made up of two stats that are insanely arbitrary.

WAR thing isnt aimed at you buddy! You got a legit beef your a Angels fan. WAR thing is aimed at those that are acting like it is the end all. Which even if they wont admit it there is a few on this board that think it is.

The Stats if you take away WAR i think still favor Cabrera. AVG/HR/RBI/OBP/OPS/SLUG all very nice for both. Cabrera isnt horrible at 3B but Trout is a game changer at CF. Cabrera last month of the season in a playoff push was amazing. Trout was terrible. It all matter of opinion and you are the only one i think has a legit beef with Trout losing all the other just like to jump on the Bandwagon and ride it till they have bashed everyone that doesnt like what they are telling them

I really don't understand why context is such a difficult concept for so many people. Everyone who screams about PER is saying that it means something it does not and the same thing is true with WAR. It does not mean anything in an absolute sense. Your brain must be supple enough to use it in context. If you're too rigid and dogmatic to accept it's limitations or to accept it's relative value, then there's not much point in having a discussion about it. In the end it's just one piece of a puzzle.

I understand the stat just fine. Flood and Hobojoe seem to think i dont and i want them to explain where i dont. Its a fine stat that people like it just i dont need it telling me who the best players in Baseball are when it really isnt that hard to figure it out for yourself

They can act out like children and bash me and ask me if i was drop down stairs all they want. I dont mind that its the internet. I just want them to explain to me where i went wrong
