He was traded because Dbacks didnt think he was worth the 37mil he had left(i think that is how much he had left. Maybe it was more). Which is a joke that they turn around and give 30 y/o Prado 40mil

The guy is 25 with 5 star tools and is coming off a MVP type season where he lead a crappy Dbacks teams. Prado is a decent OF that will get worse as he gets older

I guess the well-publicized rift between Upton and the D'backs the past year and a half just wasn't publicized enough.

And listen, unless you know these players, reading news outlets and press releases is the best way to know what the hell is going on. Explain to me how you formulate an accurate opinion when you have no idea of what actually happened?

It's befuddling to me that someone can look at this trade and come to the conclusion that the d'backs traded him because they feel they overpaid for him or they're not getting value for their money. Even if you missed the entire Upton/Management rift, looking at the numbers alone it's clear as daylight that he's a bargain player. Right now a win is valued at around 4-5 mil a win. Last year Upton had a terrible year by his standards and he ended up being a 2.5 win player. The guy makes under 10 mil a year, you do the math. Knowing that just the year before he was a 6 win player you would have to be an idiot to look at this and come to your conclusion.

lol...The whole reason they had a rift is because Dbacks been actively shopping him because of his contract. Dbacks just gave Prado 10 mil a year no team in the MLB would have gave him that much. Dbacks are idiots SERIOUSLY THEY GAVE PRADO 10 MILLION A YEAR. They where shopping Kubel and Upton because they didnt have the money to keep both around and give Prado 10 million?
