Really i would be all over Andrus for Upton. I really think Andrus is overrated and you still have Profar who is gonna be alot better. Andrus i just dont think has 5 star tools like Upton can have. Andrus is solid but doesnt have a chance at being a superstar and Upton does

He was injured last year, and in true Vinnie Victorino style just played through it. Which makes him the Anti-Ellsbury. I'm sure that Boston wishes that Ellsbury had been healthy last year, as it would make their job easier. The reason for dealing him him is pretty straightforward, they need help at a lot of spots and don't have much to trade aside from Ellsbury and potential middle-rotation starters (I guess Buchholz might be a legit 1A guy). So it's not a question of Victorino instead of Ellsbury so much as Victorino plus whatever they get for Ellsbury. If they could get Andrus or another quality SS in the deal they're likely better off.

Ellsbury needs to be moved before opening day due to the new compensation rules (you can't get FA comp for players that weren't on the opening day roster). As teams trading for him in-season won't get compensation, that reduces the trade market to teams that won't blink at an extension, severely dampening the return.

Haha the Angels gave Joe Blanton a 2 year 15mil deal

The Los Angeles Angels added another piece to their rotation Wednesday, agreeing with free agent Joe Blanton on a two-year contract worth $15 million, according to a source.

The guaranteed deal includes a club option for a third year, the source said.
