I'm not expecting them to sign a compensatory FA. I think they value the extra money in the draft pool too much given their draft position this year (and let's face, probably next year too).

Still, Dempster is going to get shelled in this division. It's just a bad signing. Should've let some NL team kick the tires on him.

I think all they want is 200 innings out of him. They're just buying time to see what they have with De la Rosa, Webster, Barnes and Owens. The team is going to suck next year regardless. Greinke certainly wasn't changing that. So they're going top build value in the minors and wait for a better free agent class/year to make their big moves.
