Impact's Patrice Bernier named August Player of the Month
"I am very pleased to have received this honor, but it is foremost a team reward for the success we've had throughout the last month," Bernier said in a statement from the club. "However, our team must continue to work and push hard to earn a playoff spot." Bernier's impressive August took him to nine goals and eight assists over 21 games in his and the Impact's inaugural MLS campaign. "Patrice is very deserving of this honor," Impact head coach Jesse Marsch said in the statement. "We know that he will continue his good form down the stretch and will help us make a final push for the playoffs." Bernier narrowly edged out Seattle's Fredy Montero for the award. The Colombian forward his for six goals and an assist, including a first-ever MLS hat trick in a 6-2 thrashing of Chivas USA. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...t-player-month |

Impact, Sporting battle to rain-soaked draw
![]() MONTREAL — Neither the Impact nor Sporting Kansas City could find a goal on a damp Saturday afternoon at Stade Saputo, both teams having to settle for a share of the points. Sporting goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen comfortably picked up his league-leading 14th shutout, and the club extended its unbeaten streak to eight games. The Eastern Conference leaders are now five points clear at the top of the table, having earned five points in a three-games-in-eight-days stretch. http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter...tl-v-skc/recap |

Recap:
Dramatic draw stings Dynamo, eliminates Impact ![]() HOUSTON – It was death by counterattack for the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night, as a 66th-minute lapse led to a Sanna Nyassi goal and the Montreal Impact’s share of the spoils on a costly night for both teams in a 1-1 draw at BBVA Compass Stadium. Marco Di Vaio, who took over the playmaking duties in the absence of the injured Felipe, played a sublime turn and through ball to Nyassi, who was persistent cleaning up his own rebound to stun the home crowd and erase an early Houston lead off the foot of Dynamo forward Will Bruin. http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter...ou-v-mtl/recap |

Impact's Marsch mulling over approach to final two games
![]() MONTREAL – With two games remaining and the playoffs out of sight, most clubs would be tempted to simply give minutes to hard-working players who have not received much playing time. That's not the case for the Montreal Impact, who were only eliminated from playoff contention last weekend. A heated derby with archrivals Toronto FC and a home curtain call against the New England Revolution lie ahead for the Impact and both matches are significant for next season. Montreal head coach Jesse Marsch admits that fielding a few of the seldom-used players this season has crossed his mind. “But we also have to make sure that we’re not cheating on what we’re doing this year,” Marsch told reporters on Wednesday. “It’s a delicate balance, and we’re going to figure out how we’re going to get through all that in the next couple of weeks.” Two objectives remain for Montreal: leaving a good impression on their supporters ahead of 2013, and capturing the first seed for next year’s Amway Canadian Championship. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...inal-two-games |

Post Season Training tour in Italy
Friendlies scheduled against ACF Fiorentina and Bologna FC ![]() ACF Fiorentina website (http://en.violachannel.tv/) Bologna FC website (http://www.bolognafc.it/) MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced on Friday that the team will embark on a training tour of Italy at the conclusion of the MLS regular season schedule, set for November 5-17, 2012. The Impact will play a minimum of two friendlies against Serie A opponents (first division). The club will face off against Bologna FC on November 8 at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara and ACF Fiorentina on November 15 at Stadio Artemio Franchi. Tickets for both games will be available. The team will also take part in a weekly training schedule. “This trip will give us the opportunity to extend our season by three weeks and cut down on the down time prior to the opening of training camp for the 2013 season,” said Impact sporting director Nick De Santis. “We would like to thank the two clubs for giving us the opportunity to organize these games, despite the fact that they are in midseason of their championships. This trip will also help us forge a stronger relationship with two prestigious organizations and could open doors for players wishing to play in North America one day.” http://www.impactmontreal.com/en/new...aly-end-season |

See You Next Year
Canadian rivals Toronto, Montreal draw 0-0 in 2012 BMO finale ![]() It’s been that kind of year at BMO Field. Toronto FC closed out their 2012 home campaign on Saturday afternoon with a 0-0 draw against rivals Montreal Impact, who were making their first-ever visit to Toronto in MLS regular season play. Goalkeeper Freddy Hall helped TFC hold on to their first league shutout since July 14 with a couple of key stops during a hectic series of stoppage time assaults on the Toronto goal. TFC were also helped by a lack of sharpness from Montreal’s attackers, a common theme that afflicted both sides in the scoreless match. While Toronto’s winless run reaches 13 matches, the expansion Impact moved closer to registering the best record by a Canadian team in MLS this year, which would give them the No. 1 seed in next year’s Canadian Championship. Despite their current five-game winless run, the Impact’s 42 points are on par with Vancouver, who are still battling for a playoff spot in the West. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...raw-bmo-finale |

Season finale a likely swan song for Impact hero Sebrango
![]() MONTREAL – Chances are there will be very few dry eyes among longtime Impact supporters when the curtain is drawn on the 2012 season this weekend. Of course Montreal will be back for another season in 2013, but the same may well not be said for a player the fans have loved since 2002, even during his stint with the Vancouver Whitecaps: striker Eduardo Sebrango. The former Cuban international (above, left), who scored 51 goals in seven seasons with Montreal before the club made the jump to MLS, turned 39 years old this spring. It therefore came to no surprise when he told local station TVA Sports two months ago that this was probably his last professional season (watch it here: http://tvasports.ca/video/sebrango-s.../1791407175001). http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...-hero-sebrango |

Jesse Marsch and Montreal Impact part ways
![]() The Montreal Impact and manager Jesse Marsch announced on Saturday morning that they have parted ways. "I'm leaving the club by mutual agreement," Marsch announced during a press conference alongside owner Joey Saputo and sporting director Nick de Santis. "It's not easy with the relationships that we've built, but for me it's the right decision. "Although we have the same goals, we did not share the same philosophy," continued Marsch. And his comments were echoed by Saputo. "This is an amicable parting of ways, for the better of the club," Saputo said. "While we had the same long-term objective for this organization, we realized we did not share the same view on how to get there." http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...ontreal-impact |
