Recap:
Tottenham rally to spoil Cahill's RBNY debut, 2-1 ![]() HARRISON, N.J. – Tim Cahill made an immediate impact in his New York Red Bulls debut, but it wasn’t enough to help his new club see off Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs erased an early deficit, rallying in the second half to beat the Red Bulls 2-1 in a friendly played in front of 21,701 fans at Red Bull Arena on Tuesday night. Cahill drew a penalty kick in the seventh minute that Kenny Cooper converted, but goals from Gareth Bale and Gylfi Sigurdsson five minutes apart saw New York lose in their marquee summer friendly. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...rbny-debut-2-1 |

Comeback Kids
Cahill scores first MLS goal, NY come back from two goals down ![]() HARRISON, N.J. – The New York Red Bulls were on the brink of losing their first home game of the season, but a handful of quality stops from goalkeeper Bill Gaudette and a late goal from Heath Pearce ensured they once more picked up points at Red Bull Arena. The Red Bulls rallied from two goals down to defeat the Portland Timbers 3-2 on Sunday, with Pearce heading home the decisive tally off a cross from Jan Gunnar Solli in the 83rd minute. The win improved New York to 13-7-6 and put them two points behind Sporting Kansas City for the top spot in the Eastern Conference, while it kept Portland at the bottom of the Western Conference at 5-13-7. http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter...ny-v-por/recap |

Recap:
Henry's magical night lifts Red Bulls past TFC 'HARRISON, N.J. – The New York Red Bulls got the three points they needed, and it took another strong performance from Thierry Henry to help make it happen. Henry got the Red Bulls back to winning ways on Saturday night with a three-assist, one-goal outing in a 4-1 win over Toronto FC that was closer than the score indicated. New York fell behind early, but Henry’s heroics inspired his side to a much-needed victory in front of the sold-out crowd of 25,017. The win puts the Red Bulls one step closer to reaching the postseason, as they now sit in second place in the Eastern Conference with three matches remaining in the campaign. http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter...ny-v-tor/recap |

The next Agudelo? NY waste no time to snap up Moreno
![]() Amando Moreno left a strong enough impression after scoring the winner in the final Reserve League match for the New York Red Bulls in September that assistant coach Mike Petke approached the young forward to tell him he felt he had the potential to be a big player in the future. It turns out the future might be sooner than even Moreno could have expected. Three months after that goalscoring performance in the Red Bulls’ 3-1 win over Toronto FC’s reserves, Moreno signed a Homegrown deal with the Red Bulls on Tuesday. The 17-year-old (above left, with fellow signing Santiago Castano) recently found out about the Red Bulls' offer while in the car with his mom, and he was in utter disbelief, while she was in tears. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...me-snap-moreno |

Red Bulls under pressure to name head coach
![]() According to the report, New York's long-rumored No. 1 target, Gary McAllister, is asking for more money than the Red Bulls are willing to offer. Naturally, this throws other names into consideration, such as former Portugal manager and Manchester United assistant Carlos Queiroz, who also directed the then MetroStars in their inaugural 1996 season. Former Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle, who brought former Red Bulls defender Tim Ream to England, is also rumored to be interested in the job, but again, his asking price could prove a stumbling block. Fox Soccer commentator Eric Wynalda is also rumored to have met with Red Bulls GM Jerome de Bontin and director of global soccer Gérard Houllier about a position at the club, but sporting director Andy Roxburgh (above) is expected to have the final say on a coaching hire. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...ame-head-coach |

Report:
Red Bulls to hire Sousa, pursue Reyna as assistant ![]() Major League Soccer's final head coaching vacancy has been filled, according to a report from Soccer By Ives. On Monday morning, Ives Galarcep reported that former Videoton, Leicester City, QPR and Swansea City manager Paulo Sousa had accepted the New York Red Bulls' top post, with an official announcement to come later in the week. According to Galarcep, current US Soccer youth technical director and former Red Bulls star Claudio Reyna has also been offered a position as Sousa's top assistant. When contacted by MLSsoccer.com, the Red Bulls declined to comment on the report. READ: Red Bulls' Petke cherishing opportunity as interim coach Sousa recently resigned from his managerial post at Videoton in the Hungarian first division for "family reasons," and has been linked to the New York job since ESPN's Alexi Lalas reported that former Portuguese international was "a good bet to be the next coach of the New York Red Bulls" on Jan. 5. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...eyna-assistant |
