Head coach John Spencer and squad excited to get to work on the new season ![]() With a classic Portland gray January morning as the backdrop, the Portland Timbers started their 2012 campaign with preseason fitness drills and training at JELD-WEN Field today. Timbers make a splash, sign Kris Boyd as new DP

Per club and league policy, details of the contract were not disclosed http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...is-boyd-new-dp |

Timbers draw Impact 0-0 in preseason match
Despite fast paced second half, game ends scoreless ![]() CARSON, Calif. -- The Portland Timbers fought to a 0-0 draw against new MLS side Montreal Impact today. Timbers head coach John Spencer opted again today with two separate lineups for both halves though trialist goalkeeper Joe Bendik played the full 90 in the shutout. Bendik's key saves towards the end of the first half helped continue Portland's undefeated run in the 2012 preseason (1-0-1). While the second half saw numerous changes in posessions and a few chances on goal as both sides hunted for the gamewinner, the match ended scoreless. http://www.portlandtimbers.com/news/...reseason-match |

Alhassan, Boyd lead Timbers comeback at raucous JELD-WEN ![]() http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter...or-v-phi/recap Kick Off: Timbers supporters give MLS night to remember ![]() Just when you thought they couldn't top what they did last year, the Timbers Army outdid themselves in front of a national TV audience yesterday in their first league match of 2012. Forget the final 3-1 win by the hometown side over the Philadelphia Union (watch the full match highlights here: http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2012/...hts-por-vs-phi). The real memories were made by the Timbers faithful. If you don’t believe us, watch them singing the US national anthem:http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2012/...ational-anthem . They floored the president of NBC Sports, Jon Miller: “I’ve been with NBC for 34 years, and I have never seen anything like this tonight. This has blown me away”. |

![]() Timbers striker will bring speed, power to attack Los Angeles Blues News Release -- www.labluesprosoccer.com Wednesday, May 9, 2012 FULLERTON, Calif. – The Blues are excited to announce they have added striker Bright Dike on loan from the Portland Timbers. The 25-year-old, who appeared in 11 matches for the MLS side in 2011, joined Head Coach Charlie Naimo’s squad for yesterday’s training session in Fullerton and is expected to be with the club for the remainder of the current USL PRO campaign, with the Timbers reserving the right to recall him if needed. Mwanga mania hits Rose City with hometown hero's return
![]() BEAVERTON, Ore. – Mwanga mania hit the Rose City on Friday as the Portland Timbers' newest acquisition took to the training field for the first time in his new uniform. As if it were a segment of “This is Your Life, Danny Mwanga,” the 20-year-old forward got reacquainted with a number of familiar faces as they descended upon the Timbers training facility to catch a glimpse of the hometown hero. In addition to the throng of media members in attendance – many of whom covered Mwanga when he wore a Jefferson High School Democrats jersey – was his former Oregon State University head coach Steve Simmons. “My heart just filled with warmth,” Simmons, describing his reaction to the trade that brought Mwanga from the Philadelphia Union in exchange for Jorge Perlaza. “He’s such a good kid and a good player and he just loves this area. This is home for him, outside of Africa. And all his support cast is here.” http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...trikers-return |
