Re: Portland Timbers Soccer Club
Not Nearly Enough
Hard-fought 1-1 draw keeps Timbers, FCD at bottom of West ![]() PORTLAND, Ore. – The battle between the two teams at the bottom of the Western Conference ended in a stalemate as the Portland Timbers and FC Dallas played to a 1-1 draw on a hot, steamy Sunday afternoon at JELD-WEN Field. A goal by FCD forward Scott Sealy in the 51st minute – beautifully assisted by midfielders Brek Shea and David Ferreira – had Dallas in line for their second consecutive victory over Portland before a Zach Loyd red card and a late Jack Jewsbury golazo brought the hosts level. http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter...or-v-dal/recap |

Portland's Wilkinson on 'keeper swap: "It's an upgrade"
![]() PORTLAND, Ore. – A mainstay starter, a veteran leader and a fan favorite. If the surprising trade of Portland Timbers goalkeeper Troy Perkins for Montreal’s Donovan Ricketts (above) said anything it’s this: nobody is safe as the club rebuilds in the midst of a highly disappointing season. “It’s an upgrade, in all honesty,” interim head coach and general manager Gavin Wilkinson said after the team’s training session Tuesday. “Troy is a fantastic person and a great goalkeeper. He was a tremendous acquisition for the club two years ago. But when you sit down and you have staff meetings and you give everyone an active voice and the unanimous decision is this is what’s right for the club, you do what’s right for the club.” http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...ts-its-upgrade |

Timbers' Dike looks bright after return from successful loan
![]() BEAVERTON, Ore. – When Portland Timbers forward Bright Dike was shipped to the LA Blues of USL Pro earlier this season on loan, he tried to look on the bright side – he'd get more game experience and a chance to show Portland what he is capable of. But if being sent to a third-division team wasn't a wake-up call for Dike, a former first-round pick of the Columbus Crew in the 2010 SuperDraft, it certainly opened his eyes to the fleeting nature of being a professional athlete http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...uccessful-loan |

Cascade Of Relief
Timbers get crucial win, move to pole position in Cascadia Cup race ![]() PORTLAND, Ore. – Gavin Wilkinson’s description of his first MLS win at the helm of the Portland Timbers was straight and to the point. “It’s a lot better than losing; a lot better than tying,” said Wilkinson, who suffered through a seven-game winless streak after taking over for the fired John Spencer before Saturday night’s 2-1 victory over Cascadia rival Vancouver Whitecaps at JELD-WEN Field. Timbers' Ricketts out 2-4 weeks with separated shoulder
![]() BEAVERTON, Ore. – Portland Timbers goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts and midfielder Diego Chara, both of whom left the game injured in Saturday's 1-1 draw against the Seattle Sounders, will be out for Wednesday's match against the MLS-leading San Jose Earthquakes at Buck Shaw Stadium (7:30pm PT KPDX, 750 AM The Game / La Pantera 940). Re: Portland Timbers Soccer Club
![]() RECAP: Jewsbury, Timbers stun Whitecaps to take Cascadia Cup VANCOUVER, B.C. — It’s been a tough season for the Portland Timbers, but the club more than played its part in the MLS playoff picture Sunday evening at BC Place, picking up a 1-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps behind a golazo from captain Jack Jewsbury. The result, Portland’s first road win of the season, earned the Timbers the 2012 Cascadia Cup, an amount of solace in a disappointing campaign. From the standpoint of the playoff picture, the draw puts the Caps’ postseason chances in jeopardy. A win would’ve clinched them a berth, but now they must wait to see if 6th-place FC Dallas can make up the ground in their remaining games. http://www.portlandtimbers.com/news/...e-cascadia-cup |

Timbers' Porter has high hopes for Nagbe, but not for Boyd
![]() PORTLAND, Ore. – At long last, Rose City, meet Caleb Porter – in the flesh. The Portland Timbers’ new head coach was finally introduced to media and supporters in a Tuesday morning press conference at JELD-WEN Field, nearly five months after the club announced he had been hired to replace former boss John Spencer. In the expansive Q&A session, the former University of Akron coach addressed finally making the jump to the professional ranks despite a number of previous opportunities, in addition to the myriad issues that face the 37-year-old when the 2013 season kicks off in two months. “This was a special situation,” Porter said, of course noting the ravenous support as a main draw. “It would have taken right fit. And the Portland Timbers was that right opportunity, that right fit.” http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...nagbe-not-boyd |
