Revs pick up U.S. national team program veteran from Vancouver

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution today acquired midfielder Lee Nguyen (pronounced WIN) through the MLS Waiver Draft. He will be formally added to the team’s roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate. Per league and club policies, further contract details were not released.

Nguyen, 25, was waived by the Vancouver Whitecaps on Thursday and was eligible for selection by other teams in today’s Waiver Draft. He originally signed a contract with Major League Soccer in December 2011, and Vancouver won a weighted lottery for his rights on December 15, 2011.

Revs sign midfielder Jeremiah White
Revs add speedy right-sided midfielder with European experience

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. The New England Revolution today signed midfielder Jeremiah White. He will be formally added to the teams roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and is expected to join the team for training next week. Per league and club policies, further contract details were not released.

The Revolution originally drafted White in the third round (23rd overall) of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft, but White pursued playing options abroad instead of signing with Major League Soccer.

White has one cap with the U.S. National Team. He came on as a substitute in the U.S. 2-0 win over Sweden in Carson, Calif., on Jan. 19, 2008

Revs add Jerry Bengtson

Honduran international, La Liga Nacional’s three-time leading scorer joins Revs on transfer

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution has acquired Honduran forward Jerry Bengtson on a transfer from Honduras’ CD Motagua. Bengtson, who recently led La Liga Nacional de Honduras in scoring for three straight seasons, will be formally added to the team’s roster upon receipt of his U.S. P-1 Visa and his International Transfer Certificate. He will occupy both designated player and international roster spots on the Revolution’s roster once added. Per league and club policies, further contract details will not be released.

“We’re very pleased that we’ve added Jerry to our squad,” Revolution General Manager Michael Burns said. “He is very well-known within CONCACAF and has been a reliable, consistent scorer for both club and country. We’re looking forward to getting him integrated into our system as quickly as possible and to getting him out on the field in MLS games.”

Recap: Nguyen, debutant Bengtson power Revs past RBNY

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Forget about those last-minute New England heroics this week. They simply weren't necessary as the Revs dispatched the New York Red Bulls, 2-0, at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.

Lee Nguyen capped a fine Revolution start by firing home from outside the penalty area to open the scoring after 24 minutes. New York striker Kenny Cooper hit the post after 56 minutes as the Red Bulls improved after the break, but Revolution debutant Jerry Bengtson concluded a good night for the home side with his first MLS goal six minutes from time to ice the win.

News of Joseph trade
hits stunned Revolution players hard

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The news of Shalrie Joseph's departure almost seemed too significant and too surprising for his teammates to process on Wednesday morning.

Joseph no longer a Rev? On his way to Chivas USA in a trade?

Even in the volatile world of MLS, the move represents a dramatic shift for a club that has leaned on Joseph for the past decade to lead the team on the field and in the locker room.

“It still hasn't quite sunk in,” Revolution goalkeeper and longtime teammate Matt Reis told MLSsoccer.com. “It's been an interesting morning. There have been some seismic events, even though we don't get too many earthquakes around here.”

Losing the imposing and pervasive presence of their captain certainly qualifies as a dramatic shock. Joseph, 34, wielded plenty of influence within the squad and his absence will create a significant void to fill in several different areas.

Gavin still coming to grips with "shock" trade to Revs

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Blair Gavin took a few minutes at the conclusion of his first training session as a member of the New England Revolution to sit on the Gillette Stadium turf.

He likely needed the rest.

Gavin is right in the middle of a whirlwind week that involved a trade from Chivas USA on Wednesday, a furious rush to pack up his belongings for a quick move across the continent and a long flight to link up with his new teammates ahead of Saturday's match against Sporting Kansas City (7:30 pm ET, watch LIVE online).

“Obviously, it's been a shock,” Gavin told MLSsoccer.com on Friday morning. “Once you actually hear the words 'you've been traded,' it doesn't do it justice until you get here and you're like, 'Wow, I'm at New England right now.' It's going to take an adjustment period, but I'm excited to be here and I'm glad to be wearing the crest of New England.”

re: The New England Revolution

Joseph’s homecoming provides subplot vs. Chivas USA

Former Revolution captain to make his return to Foxborough

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Just as he’s done countless times, Shalrie Joseph will trot onto the Gillette Stadium field on Wednesday night wearing red, white and blue.

But instead of sporting the New England Revolution’s home colors – as he did for 10 years – this time Joseph will be representing the visitors as he returns to Foxborough for the first time since the Aug. 1 trade which sent him across the country to Chivas USA.

It’s sure to be a bizarre experience for Joseph, who came to call New England home during his decorated decade-long stint with the Revs, but it’s also a unique opportunity for the 34-year-old to perform in front of the loyal Revolution fans and against his former teammates.

All Pain, No Gain
Revs blow 3-goal lead as Shalrie leads Goats to 3-3 draw

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Shalrie Joseph marked his return to Gillette Stadium by spurring a three-goal comeback to lift Chivas USA to a 3-3 draw with New England on Wednesday night.

Sar Sne scored twice either side of a Rauwshan McKenzie own goal to stake the Revs to a seemingly comfortable three-goal lead inside the first 21 minutes. Joseph tallied twice before halftime to cut deeply into that advantage before Miller Bolaos completed the recovery two minutes after the interval by bundling home Casey Townsend's knockdown at the far post.

New England appeared to place the outcome of the match beyond doubt by taking advantage of Chivas USA's defensive instability to score three times inside the first 21 minutes.

Rochester Rhinos will serve as affiliate
to New England Revolution

After months of negotiations and speculation, Major League Soccer and the United Soccer Leagues announced a multi-year affiliation agreement Wednesday that partners USL PRO teams, including the Rochester Rhinos, for the upcoming season with MLS clubs.

Team president Pat Ercoli said the Rhinos will be paired in 2013 with the New England Revolution, who are based in Foxborough, Mass., and will carry at least four Revs players on loan on their roster. The MLS-USL agreement also includes home-and-home series between USL squads and the reserve squad of MLS teams, which are usually younger, developmental players.

Final: Revs 2, TFC 0

Juan and Diego strike again to lead Revs to second straight win

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Juan Agudelo and Diego Fagundez both scored for the second straight week to guide the New England Revolution to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Toronto FC on a rainy and raw Saturday night at Gillette Stadium.

After coming off the bench to score on his Revolution debut last weekend in Houston, Agudelo made his first start with the club against TFC and once again sealed the full three points with a late goal. And once again it was Fagundez who scored what proved to be the game winner as he took his goal-scoring streak up to three games with a fantastic strike midway through the first half.

New England Revolution 5
LA Galaxy 0

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The LA Galaxy dominated the ball, but the New England Revolution were the ones who found the net – repeatedly – as they demolished the defending champions by a 5-0 count at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.

Behind a goal and two assists each from Diego Fagundez and second-half substitute Kelyn Rowe, the Revs scored four times in the second 45 to win their third straight league game and left the shorthanded Galaxy wondering how their edge in possession failed to replicate their four-goal form from last weekend's rout of Seattle.

New England Revolution set to sign Charlie Davies
on loan until end of season?

The New England Revolution might be about to lose one promising US national team prospect in Juan Agudelo, but they could be set to add another American forward with significantly more career experience for a late season playoff push in Charlie Davies.

The Revolution have reportedly already signed Davies on a loan agreement through the end of the season with an option to buy permanently and could announce the deal on Friday. Davies to New England was first reported by SoccerByIves.net.

Davies' only other prior stint in Major League Soccer came during a season-long loan deal with D.C. United in 2011 which saw the now-27-year-old score 11 goals in 26 appearances for the Black-and-Red. Since that time, Davies was released by French club Sochaux and signed for Randers in Denmark, where he has hasn't scored in 23 appearances.
