What happened to Wesley Person?

Last year Wesley Person had the best season of his career. He shot .495 from the field and .444 from behind the arc. I know preseason doesn't matter but he shot .333 and .394 from the arc, and their first game he couldn't hit anything. What's happened to him? Does he just not care anymore, has he gotten old in one offseason, or is he just in a slump? I'm hoping its just a slump because his shooting could be a real asset.

there was

a lot said about Person when the trade went down.... there is probably a thread a few pages back. I've felt all along that Person has to be handled in a "special" way.... very delicately. Lucas stroked it out of him last year, even to the extent of bringing his older brother Chuck "The Rifleman" Person onto the team to help with little brother's bruised ego.

Person plays without passion, and without defensive effort. He rarely drives to the hoop. He likes to spot-up at the three, and that is about it (I'm exaggerating a little, but not a lot!).

I said it before, and I'll say it again, I am glad the Cavs made the trade with Memphis (and for the same reasons, the trade for Lamond Murray, who does have a more rounded offensive game than Person, to Toronto). We already dropped Nick Anderson, and we got a draft choice, in exchange for a salary dump and dumping a passionless player. The Cavs didn't really care who or what they got for Person, they just knew he would not be a part of our future.

Person doesn't necessarily need to start, but he does need a regular amount of minutes, and it better be substantial minutes, and not just garbage time. I did not and do not think he will come close to the numbers he put up last year, mostly because you should be starting Battier first, with Dickerson coming off the bench. I hope the Griz and Person do well, but again, Person is not the answer for your team, just the same as a healthy Lamond Murray would not be the missing piece for the Raptors.

We are't expecting him to be the answer.

All we need from Person is a 3-point percentage over .375 and 20 to 25 minutes of solid ball.

Is that to much to ask from this player?
